Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudio Santos.
Hi Claudio, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in a poor community called Itapegica, where I lived until I was 11. I always dreamed of becoming someone important and leaving a legacy on this planet. My first job was at the fast-food restaurant Bobs, and afterward, I started a Technical course at CEFET – a good university, but everything was free because my family didn’t have money to pay for my studies. After Bobs, I started to work at Ambev, the same company that bought the Anheuser-Busch beer company. I was poor and had no chance to enter as a trainee then, so I started as an outsourced cleaning assistant, which was nothing related to what I was studying at CEFET, mechanical automation. I spent 10 years working at Ambev, and during these years, I rose in positions at least 7 times because I always believed in working hard and studying as much as possible to get results. In 2015, I graduated as an engineer from a local university called ENIAC. I was proud of that because I was the first in my family to get a graduation degree. So, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, where I lived for 3 months, and when I returned, I bought my first apartment. What a proud moment for my mom to see her youngest son buy a house because she never had one; she always worked hard, raising 3 kids without a husband and renting houses. I had a tough childhood but was very happy. Unfortunately, I saw many of my friends die due to the insanity conditions or drugs back at my apartment.
A few years later, I decided to leave Ambev with a dream of having my own business, and with the money that I got from Ambev, I realized a dream for my mom: giving her a new house. It is memorable for me this happening. After quitting my last job as the General Control and Loss Prevention Manager at Ambev with a good salary, I decided to open a Marketing Agency because I like the quality of life and freedom to work from anywhere. My first years were challenging; I needed to learn how to sell. I needed to change my mindset from an employee to a business owner. With time, I became so good that I won three times as the best franchisee of the Brand because the business I bought was a franchisee Business with more than 150 units spread throughout Brazil. I was so happy with so many victories in my life.
In 2019, I married Eloisa, and a year later, after visiting Orlando, we missed the same quality of life and safety in Brazil. With so many wrong things happening and a challenging environment for entrepreneurs, we decided to live abroad. It took a lot of work to determine which country (Spain, Portugal, or the US), but after choosing, we initiated our migration process, applying for EB2-NIW. To our happiness, we were approved, and after our documents arrived, we launched a new company in Orlando that has been growing fast, CS Company, a marketing agency. During this journey, we met many friends we can call family.
For 2024, we have great plans and looking backward at everything we passed through and where we are, we know that everything is possible. Today, we have an international company present in Brazil, the Philippines, and the US, with employees who love their work, clients growing their businesses with our solutions, and an ocean of opportunities ahead. As a marketing agency, we provide services like campaigns that bring leads, revenue, and profit to small businesses in the US. We hope to help 100 small businesses thrive until 2026.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
- I grew up in a poor community, overcame all the cultural obstacles, and grew my business mindset throughout the years.
- Getting my first clients when you still need to get good cases.
- Leaving a job that gives me a good salary for something very uncertain.
- Studying a lot of new courses to understand the market. And after that, everything changes again.
- Make good connections, those you take into your life and add value to.
- Learning a new language in a different country far from my family.
- Facing many “No” s, and even with that, keep going.
