Today we’d like to introduce you to Clinton Holmes.
Clinton, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t start with a big agency dream or a team of designers. I started with a desktop, Microsoft Publisher, a passion for design, and a desire to help people communicate better. What began as a creative side gig soon became a calling that centered around helping brands find clarity in how they show up and connect.
My first business name was New Direction Group because I wanted to be clever. The name came from wanting to provide something “new” to clients. It was mainly a graphic design gig, but marketing and branding were always at its core. I just wasn’t knowledgeable enough to push it yet. Over time, as my skill set grew, I launched Your Property Marketing Solutions to help apartment communities that needed visual consistency. The new name helped me appear relatable to that core audience, and it worked. In fact, it worked for years. I managed to do all of that while still holding a regular 9 to 5 job in technology.
Then the world changed. COVID hit, jobs shifted, and I found myself out of work. That’s when the business went from a side hustle to a full-time mission. I quickly realized the gig wasn’t bringing in enough income, so I searched for a new job in marketing and found one. After working as a marketing coordinator for a major company for a year, my wife was offered a career opportunity I wasn’t going to let her pass up. Thankfully, my employer allowed me to transition from employee to contractor. My wife and I relocated to Florida, and that relocation forced me to evolve.
When we moved to Lake County, I realized it wasn’t just properties that needed structure. It was businesses, entrepreneurs, and growing brands that were also trying to find their place and voice. That realization sparked a rebrand.
“Your Property” became “Your Partner.”
YP Marketing Solutions was born, a right-sized micro-agency built on one idea: clarity before complexity.
Today, we help growing businesses cut through the noise with systems that make marketing work, not just look good. From brand clarity audits to ongoing creative execution, we blend strategy, branding, design, and support in a way that feels human and sustainable.
At our core, we believe in relationship-first marketing, because growth starts with trust. Our mission is to help brands move forward with clarity, consistency, and confidence.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was not smooth at all. In fact, it was bumpy, like the unpaved roads in underfunded communities. You start the journey hoping for a smooth ride, but reality is undefeated.
The biggest struggles have been timing, the financial climate, and opportunity. These are all things that, no matter how strong your brand or marketing may be, are often outside of your control. There were seasons when demand was there, but the budgets weren’t. Times when I knew I had the skills and solutions, but reaching the clients who could afford or trust me enough to invest at higher levels was a real challenge.
Those moments test your patience and your purpose. You learn quickly that running a business isn’t just about strategy, it’s about endurance. The good business owners, the ones who make it, figure out how to navigate those storms, stay adaptable, and keep showing up when the road isn’t smooth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about YP Marketing Solutions?
YP Marketing Solutions is a right-sized micro-agency based in Lake County, Florida. We help small businesses, entrepreneurs, and growing brands cut through the noise with clarity, consistency, and confidence. Our focus is on structure, building systems that make marketing work, not just look good.
We specialize in brand clarity, creative direction, and content execution. From brand audits and marketing roadmaps to social content and print design, we give clients the strategy and tools to look professional, stay consistent, and communicate with purpose.
What sets us apart is our balance of brand strategy and execution. Most agencies sell deliverables. Most consultants sell advice. We bridge the two. Clients get a marketing partner who understands business, design, and psychology, someone who can both map the brand plan and make it happen.
Our patience is also part of what makes us different. Many startups and small businesses don’t always understand the growing pains that come with business ownership, and that’s okay. We take the time to educate, guide, and build with them, not just for them.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our ability to meet clients where they are. Whether it’s a company spending $2,000 a month or a startup investing $275 through Project Giveback, the quality and care never change. Every brand we touch becomes clearer, more confident, and more connected.
If readers take one thing away about YP Marketing Solutions, it’s this:
We’re not a quick-fix agency. We’re a partner for growth. We help brands think strategically, show up consistently, and move forward with purpose.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
There are a few core resources that have shaped how I approach business, branding, and leadership.
Books like The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber remind me that true success comes from building systems, not just hustling harder. The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann reinforces the idea that generosity and value create more opportunities than traditional selling ever could. And Why They Buy by Cheri Tree keeps me rooted in the psychology behind every business decision, helping me communicate in a way that connects to real people, not just data.
On the digital side, I lean on Metricool for marketing analytics and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) along with Canva for design workflows. I keep my automation and client systems tight and lean, so I don’t need bulky CRMs. These tools help me stay efficient without losing the human touch.
Outside of work, I learn from multiple podcasts because each offers a unique mix of strategy, mindset, and practicality.
All of these resources align with one belief I hold close: clarity, consistency, and community are the foundation of both brand growth and personal growth.
