Inspiring Conversations with Corey Carruth of Sky’s the Limit Car Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Carruth.

Hi Corey , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story starts in a place most people have never been—literally. I was born in Papua New Guinea while my parents were working as missionaries. Growing up in a remote village with no electricity and surrounded by only jungle, nature and the people of our remote tribe shaped my early understanding of connection, resilience, and simplicity. That all changed when we moved to the U.S. at age 12. The cultural shock was intense. I went from river play with local kids to feeling like an outsider in a world I didn’t understand. School didn’t engage me—I stopped showing up. By ninth grade, I dropped out, got my GED, and knew one thing: I could outwork anybody.

That drive eventually led me to discover detailing. It started as a passion project. I had fallen in love with the Saturn Sky and bought one for my 30th birthday. I wanted to make it look incredible, so I dove deep into the world of car care—reviewing products, sharing on forums, experimenting endlessly. What began as a hobby turned into my life.

Manufacturers began to take notice. One of them was CARPRO, who asked me to lead the launch of the CQUARTZ Finest program in North America. That invitation didn’t just open a door—it changed the entire direction of my life. Sky’s the Limit Car Care was born from that moment, rooted in passion, built on trust, and driven by a clear mission: to serve the detailing community with honesty, integrity, and relentless support. Over the years, we’ve grown far beyond that starting point, adding incredible partners like Microfiber Madness and continuing to expand our offerings, without ever compromising on who we are or why we started.

This isn’t just a storefront. It’s a commitment. A commitment to guide, to educate, and to make sure that whether you’re just starting out or scaling your operation, you have a partner who genuinely cares about your success. We don’t want to be the biggest—we want to be the most invested. And that’s exactly who we are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The growth didn’t happen overnight. For 3 years, I lived on 2–3 hours of sleep a night to keep it all afloat. But I kept showing up, committed to building something meaningful. Eventually, I realized I couldn’t do it alone. That’s when I began investing in people. Alexandra came on board as our General Manager. James joined the marketing side. We built a team based on values—not just skills. And that team? They became the heart of everything.

While the business grew, so did I. At one point, I realized I was unhealthy—physically and emotionally depleted. I was 220 pounds, a lifelong smoker, and completely burned out. That’s when I decided to change. I started running. Then came triathlons. Then Ironman. Then ultramarathons. Somewhere along that path, I got hit by an SUV while training—but I survived. That moment, oddly enough, filled me with joy. I wasn’t supposed to be here. But I was. And that gave everything new meaning.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sky’s the Limit Car Care started from a very personal place. It wasn’t built in a boardroom—it was built in my garage, with my hands, my curiosity, and a genuine love for making something better. What began as me trying to perfect the finish on a Saturn Sky turned into something much bigger than I ever imagined: a business rooted in passion, purpose, and people.

Today, we’re a 10,000-square-foot operation serving detailers all across North America. But I still see it the same way I did on day one—we exist to help others succeed. That means offering the best products, giving honest advice, and showing up every day to support the detailing community.

We specialize in premium detailing products, and I’m proud to say that one of our most meaningful partnerships is with CARPRO. From flagship coatings like DQUARTZ and CQUARTZ Finest Reserve to maintenance essentials like IronX and Reset, CARPRO’s innovation and integrity align perfectly with what we stand for.

Beyond CARPRO, we’ve added brands like Microfiber Madness—companies that care just as deeply about quality as we do. We’re incredibly selective about what we carry. If it doesn’t impress us in our own hands, it doesn’t go on the shelf. It’s that simple.

What sets us apart isn’t just our lineup—it’s how we treat people. We’re not here to sell you something you don’t need. We’re here to help you make sense of an industry that can feel overwhelming at times. Whether you’re a weekend hobbyist or running a full-time shop, we want to be your partner, not just your supplier.

What I’m most proud of? That’s easy—it’s the people. The detailers who trusted us when we were still small. The shops who joined our installer program and built their business around it. And most of all, the team we’ve built here. They care. They show up. And they believe in what we’re doing just as much as I do.

At the end of the day, Sky’s the Limit isn’t just a name. It’s a reminder. That with the right tools, the right guidance, and the right people in your corner, there’s no limit to where you can go.

We’re not trying to be the loudest brand in the room—we’re working hard to be the most trusted one. And if that resonates with you, we’d love to be part of your journey.
