Today we’d like to introduce you to Correy Hammond
Hi Correy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As an educator in higher education for over 15 years, I’ve dedicated my life to guiding students in defining, clarifying, and achieving their educational and personal goals. As a first-generation college student, I faced the challenges of navigating the psychological, academic, financial, and social complexities of attending a private institution far from home. Thanks to the solid foundation my parents instilled in me, failure was never an option; I was determined not just to survive but to thrive in this new environment. I reached out to every university support available, and with holistic support, I developed my leadership skills through a mindset shift. I learned to view problems as opportunities, understanding that every challenge was a chance to learn and grow, paving the way for a successful life. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from Xavier University and a Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel (Higher Education Administration) from the University of Dayton. Today, as a business owner, author, and trainer with over 15 years of experience in leadership development, I’ve committed myself to helping youth and young adults become the best versions of themselves by simply shifting their mindsets.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life’s journey may not have been easy, but it has been truly transformative. My mentor, Paul James, played a crucial role in inspiring me to pursue a career in education. Having someone solid like him by my side to bounce ideas off and discuss life has been key for my personal growth.
After college, I was at a crossroads unsure of my path. Thanks to my mentor’s guidance, I realized my potential as a college administrator through my campus involvement. This pivotal moment 20 years ago has shaped the amazing career choice I made then and continue to thrive in today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Throughout my years as an educator and trainer across various campuses, I felt a strong desire to reach more educators and become a change agent in the field. This passion inspired me to start my own public speaking company, Turning Pointe LLC, in 2022. Since then, it has been an incredible journey traveling nationwide, delivering speeches and webinars to inspire and train fellow educators.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m in the process of merging my public speaking company with my YouTube channel to create a unique platform where leadership development and mindset meet family, fatherhood, and entrepreneurship. This integration will build a holistic brand that empowers individuals to excel in personal growth while fostering strong family values and entrepreneurial spirit. By combining these strengths, I am to reach a wider audience, offering diverse content that nurtures leaders, supports fathers, and inspires entrepreneurs.
