Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Tripi.
Hi Crystal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved the beauty industry and dreamed of being a salon owner. However, I found myself as a single mother at just 19, so life had other plans for me first. By the time I was 35, I finally had an opportunity to return to school (for a second time) to enter the beauty world as a licensed esthetician. This wasn’t an opportunity I hesitated on! I dove all the way in! I was lucky to have a job that worked with my schedule so I could do full-time schooling and still afford my household. Don’t get me wrong, those were long days and short nights, but they were all worth it in the end. Shortly into my skincare journey, I learned the skill of applying for Lash Extensions and got certified. It didn’t take long to realize that lash extension were now my specialty. I love doing lashes so much that I even went to the extent of doing mobile lashes! Which is no walk in the park! Having to carry everything, set up, and break down each visit wasn’t fun. But again worth it. I had times when I worked for other salon owners and beauty franchise corporations, but by the time I was 39, I became tired of pouring into other companies when I knew I could run my own! So I leaped and started renting a salon suite.
However, it was March 2020 when I paid my first rent. Little did I know despite the world shutting down, I somehow survived, and in less than a year, I was moving into my own storefront space 4 times the size of that suite. Today I am the proud owner of CB LASHES in Altamonte Springs, FL. I have a thriving career as a lash artist and brow specialist. Recently I’ve expanded my skills and added tattooing (PMU). I plan to continue educating myself in all things beauty. But The truth is that it was not all easy, and it took everything in me to keep my dream going. Some days it still does. But I love what I do, and I do not doubt that I will do what I love!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
I’ve had the best of both, some smooth roads along the way and some struggles. One of them was during renovations; I came across a few companies that may have over-quoted me based on what they saw as “A successful woman business owner.” Then there is the slow season had to learn to be prepared for the shift in seasons. Different times of the year will be busier than others, which is normal. Luckily, I come from a customer service background, which has helped me avoid too many struggles with my clients.

I have been open since 2020 and specialize in lash and brow beauty. This includes professional eyelash extensions, eyelash perm, eyelash tinting, eyebrow threading, eyebrow waxing, eyebrow power tattoo, enhancement, and tiny tattoos. I am also certified in Hyaluronic lip enhancement (no needle).
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
I’ve never really believed in good or bad luck. Unfortunately, some unforeseen things can happen at any time in our lives and business.
