Today we’d like to introduce you to Dian Williamson.
Dian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started in the fashion industry around 2009 in The Bahamas where I grew up. My love for fashion came from reading magazines. I would collect them and have stacks at a time in my room. I enjoyed reading and looking at the beautiful clothing in magazines like Elle, Cosmopolitan & Vogue. I actually had a storefront in The Bahamas and a number of online businesses. I remember delivering clothing to my customers’ workplace during their lunch breaks and having their company restroom door locked because there was 3/4 women trying on the clothing I brought in a small suitcase. The excitement was refreshing to me then as it is now, that 14 years later I’m still doing what I love. I started out selling women’s clothing and I was also a wholesale vendor of hair wigs & other replica items.
Currently, I sell casual & formal clothing & accessories along with other lifestyle items. I have a business website and I offer private shopping experiences to my clients. Additionally, I participate in a number of pop-up shops each month including areas like Altamonte Springs, Orlando, Apopka, Daytona, Winter Park, Leesburg, Deltona, DeLand, Oviedo & Sanford.
This year my prayer is to open a storefront in central Florida. My clients are amazing, and I’ve definitely outgrown my current way of doing business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As in any business things sometimes get very slow financially but I’ve learned to take the good with the bad.
I also like to have a plan B. I work with H & R Block seasonally as an Associate Team Leader, I’m a Florida Notary, Immigration Document Preparer, and freelance photographer. So, I’ve definitely got some other options for the downtime whenever it comes.
We’ve been impressed with Becoming The Woman Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
