Inspiring Conversations with Frederick Reitz of SAFEsky Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frederick Reitz.

Hi Frederick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am an Aviation Enthusiast who started flying lessons at 14. After a career in Law Enforcement, a friend introduced me to the airline business. I was hired by a regional airline in Dallas, Texas, to manage the Hub Operation. With the help of a terrific staff, we improved the efficiency of the airline by creating a catering department, introduced aircraft cleaning, and improved customer service through training and motivational programs. I learned to ski in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Aspen, Colorado.

I have been fortunate to work with experienced aviation professionals who guided my career through various exciting positions, including ramp agent, customer service, security instructor, and many more. As the security manager for a Caribbean airline, I realized we were paying high fees for employee fingerprinting and background checks, so I worked with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to become an authorized fingerprint collector. We implemented changes, saving over $250 per employee while expediting the hiring process. As a TSA Authorized fingerprint collector, my phone began ringing from other airlines asking if I could fingerprint their staff members. In 2006, SAFEsky, later renamed Accurate Fingerprinting, was created.

I am a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management and a Master’s in Aeronautical Science. I am presently working on my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University. I share my skills and talents with the community by volunteering for several organizations. Giving back has always been important; it makes others feel good, and in return, he feels good. I am committed to positively impacting the lives of others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most entrepreneurs have the same challenges of owning and operating a small business. Should I quit my full-time job to pursue my dream? For over 16 years, I worked full-time in the aviation industry while managing SAFEsky. I had little time off and spent many evening and weekend hours working on accounting and records while trying to increase sales. When the bills came due during the lean times, I had to pay them with my funds. In 2021, I attended a virtual Tony Robbins seminar called Business Mastery. Tony and his staff addressed many of the fears and challenges that small business operators have, including the issue of leaping into self-employment. I implemented many lessons from the seminar and have watched my business grow.

As you know, we’re big fans of SAFEsky Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
SAFEsky is an aviation security company that provides security training for Pilots, Flight Attendants, and ground crew. We write security manuals, conduct Criminal History Record checks (CHRC) and adjudicate CHRC reports.

SAFEsky is the parent company of Accurate Fingerprinting, a State of Florida-approved fingerprint collector. Accurate Fingerprinting provides confidential fingerprinting services for individuals seeking a Florida license, criminal history background check, or an FBI report for international travel, adoption, and schooling.

We are a full-service fingerprinting agency; we fingerprint applicants. We provide friendly, efficient, and confidential service. Our google reviews speak for themselves; we love what we do, which reflects our customer service. Many locations have ‘do it yourself’ fingerprint machines, which can be challenging to use and frequently result in rejected fingerprints – delaying the application process for people.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You can never give up. When the economy went south in 2008, business slowed down, but fortunately, we weathered the storm, and by 2010, we were growing again. Be honest – only promise services you can deliver. It is ok to say no; sorry, I cannot help you with that. Deliver what you promise – when you commit to a customer, honor that commitment. There is no excuse for failing to perform the service you offered.
