Inspiring Conversations with Joshua Emil Torres of THE CODE Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Emil Torres.

Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My start was a bit unexpected and without thinking. Everything happened after the death of my father in which I realized that the world can end in a second. I have always loved social media, and at that time I was working for an advertising and marketing agency in Orlando with a focus on the Latino community in the United States.

However, with that insistence on leadership, breaking the routine, and always going for more, I decided to give up and open my digital boutique agency. The beginning was difficult since he only had $2,500 from a personal loan that I had made and that I could spend 2 months without working and focusing on finding clients. Negative thoughts began of whether I had made the right decision, whether this was what God had planned for me, and doubting my abilities.

In a lot of brainstorming about how to start this whole adventure, I was working on the social media calendar for the agency and I said “I am just starting and I have the knowledge, it is becoming a bit complicated for me, what will the people who have had to undertake because of COVID-19 and they have no idea about social media”. From there came the greatest blessing, creating a social media calendar with different pillars so that people could adapt it to their industries.

I focused my energies on the calendar in which I spent about 2 weeks organizing and creating the ideas and strategies month by month. I had people close to me who told me “that’s not going to work” but inside I saw that need of many people. I had my close friends calling for ideas, strategies for social networks since they had lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and had to find the money.

I launched the social media calendar on November 23rd and it only had about 10 sales that first week. The campaigns were on the wrong target and I had lost around $250. However, everything happened as it had to happen. The campaigns were focused on people with small businesses, they began to buy the calendar, the noise and the word of mount became a reality and in what I did 10 sales in a week, they began to be 10, 20, 50, up to 70 sales in a day.

The telephone number of people interested in my services is beyond the calendar. I started to target people from LATAM, Europe, and United States. To date, and after 2 social media calendars (2021, 2022) and a business plan, over 4,000 sales have been generated. Today, all my clients were referred from people who bought the calendar. I, who had printed over 200 business cards and around 500 brochures, still have them in the same box since, thank God, I didn’t have to use them.

THE CODE Marketing has clients in Puerto Rico and the United States and specializes in digital marketing and traditional marketing. And to think that it all started with a social media calendar.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest challenge is not having good support by my side so that they could see how big this was for me and how gigantic it could become.

Many times they say that you have to believe in yourself and you will have everything and it is true, but if you have someone by your side who doubts your abilities and does things out of obligation, that can greatly affect your potential.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about THE CODE Marketing?
