Inspiring Conversations with Kelly Tellez of Revamp Carpet Cleaning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Tellez.

Kelly Tellez

Hi Kelly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our story began during the uncertainty of early 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. My husband, Robert, was laid off from his job, while I continued working as an essential employee. Rather than viewing that moment as a setback, we saw it as an opportunity to build something meaningful together.

With over 25 years of experience in commercial cleaning — including carpet, upholstery, and VCT flooring — Robert possessed the skills and knowledge to establish a business founded on quality and professionalism. We took a leap of faith and launched our company with a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellent service, and a hands-on, family-owned approach.

Today, we are proud to have grown into a trusted cleaning company serving both residential and commercial clients. What started during a time of uncertainty has become a business built on resilience, dedication, and a passion for helping our customers care for their spaces.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely wasn’t smooth in the beginning. We started very modestly, with just one portable cleaning machine and a lot of determination. Our very first clients were our own neighbors, which made those early days especially meaningful. We were building the business one job at a time, relying on word of mouth, trust, and long days of hands-on work.

There were challenges along the way — learning how to grow, reinvesting back into the business, and balancing family life while building something from the ground up. Through it all, we truly believe that God opened doors and provided opportunities at just the right moments. Every small win felt purposeful and encouraged us to keep moving forward. Looking back, those humble beginnings shaped our values and strengthened our faith, reminding us that growth happens through consistency, care, and trusting the path laid before us.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our business is called Revamp because our mission is exactly that — to renew, refresh, and restore floors and upholstery so they feel like new again. Revamp is a family-owned and operated floor cleaning company serving commercial and residential clients. We specialize in carpet, upholstery, tile & grout cleaning, and commercial VCT floor care.

What sets us apart is our personal approach and hands-on involvement. We take pride in delivering premium results at fair pricing, and we are committed to being honest and never overcharging. My husband, Robert, leads field operations — he handles the hands-on work, the heavy lifting, and the training to ensure every job is done with care and consistency. He has also gone through extensive background checks and is authorized to work in secure locations, including precincts and fire stations, which speaks to the level of trust and professionalism we bring into every space.

I handle the administrative and customer-care side of the business from home while also taking care of our children, and I truly feel that helps me relate to many of our clients. I understand how important it is to have a clean, comfortable home and a company you can trust.

At the heart of our brand is honesty, fair pricing, and genuine service. We don’t just show up to collect a check — we listen, we respect our clients, and we take pride in delivering results that make people feel proud of their space again.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the cleaning industry continuing to grow in a way that’s more professional and more people-focused. Cleanliness has always mattered, but now it feels more personal than ever — especially for businesses like hotels and high-traffic spaces where first impressions and guest experience depend on a clean, welcoming environment.

I think we’ll see a bigger shift toward ongoing maintenance plans instead of only one-time cleanings, along with higher expectations for fast response times, consistent quality, and clear communication. People don’t just want a clean space — they want to feel confident they’re working with someone dependable and trustworthy.

For Revamp, our hope is to keep growing in a healthy way by creating more jobs and building a strong team, while shifting more into the hospitality industry. We want to serve hotels and commercial properties with the kind of quality and reliability we’d expect for our own home. And as parents, it’s important to us that the business continues to grow in a way that supports our family, so we can spend meaningful time with our children while still doing work that we’re proud of.
