Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Gonzalez.
Hi Kiara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a young 21-year-old mom of two beautiful children. With that being said, having a stable job is kinda difficult to work around my schedule with the kids, and unfortunately, childcare is not a financial option. So, I always loved decorating and helping people plan birthdays and parties, so I thought why not do it and make a business out of it. The inspiration all really started around my son’s 1st birthday when I started to DIY a lot of stuff and rent items off of people when in reality, I could’ve made it myself and rented it out and made my money’s worth and always be able to use it for my kids’ birthdays or any special celebration I have! So, I started to practice at home and play around with balloons, a cricut to start messing with it also, and I started taking classes. After all the practice and starting small with family setups, I have received several bookings since then. Thankfully, I was approached for a major booking which I hope steer’s my business into a better direction, and most of all, I hope to influence other young moms or minds not to move forward but to prosper and never give up!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some major struggles along the way were being able to transport balloons in such a small car, finding someone to watch the kids while I do a booking, and making sure I get to the booking with enough time to set up and fix any mistakes such as needing to blow up more balloons if any pop!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I do rental backdrops, balloon decorating, custom items such as chip bags, caprisun labels, etc; I make custom balloons, custom party boxes, full event decorating from table clothes to centerpieces also chair covers
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I think the what I love most is culturally mixed we are! What I like least is how overpopulated the city is.
