Hi Lesa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been bakery for almost 40 years. I am a Micro Bakery or Cottage Baker. Baking was always an intricate part of our family dynamic. I baked with my 3 boys every holiday and we would have bake offs as well. It was always fun and brought our family closer. I never thought about selling my treat, I just enjoyed baking and making my family happy. My middle son Dmitri passed away this past Mother’s Day and it has been devastating for all of us. Dmitri always wanted me to start a bakery business and he would help me fund it to get it off and running.. I started promoting and selling my products in July, specifically to honor my son. I make gourmet cookies, cupcakes, brownies, custom cakes as well as Jamaican treats. I specialize in New York style cookies, which are 6.5 ounces in size. I do some advertising on social media as well as farmers markets in my local area to get my business name out.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth, no! The goal was to start baking and selling. The biggest obstacle for me was the new age of social media. I was told by several people that I needed to post on all of my socials two to three times per day. That was a huge challenge. I am not a social media person and I could not afford to hire someone to run this aspect of my business for me.

RegalBites is a gourmet bakery that specializes in 6 ounce cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and brownies. We also offer bite-sized, 1-inch cookies and brownies as well.
One unique treat from RegalBites is their “cake cream” — a small, cake cup dessert that looks like ice cream, featuring layers of frosting, filling, and various toppings. We also specialize in Jamaican bake goods.
