Inspiring Conversations with Leslie Pierce of Vision Events Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Pierce.

Leslie Pierce

Hi Leslie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
If I’m being honest, I never imagined I’d end up where I am today in the event industry. I didn’t even know I had a passion for planning events until the opportunity came along for me to give it a try. What I did always know, though, was that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Since I was young, I’d come up with business ideas, from fashion lines to bakeries, and dream about turning them into reality.

In 2020, an unexpected opportunity arose when my church offered me a position as an event coordinator. At the time, I was working in the medical field, so the shift from a highly analytical career to something so creative was a huge transition. But something inside me told me this was a path I needed to explore.

The first year was tough, especially with the pandemic hitting just a few months after I started. There were many times I felt like I had no idea what I was doing, but I kept pushing forward. Over time, I discovered a real passion for the logistics and operations behind events, and I became even more fascinated with the design aspect. It was thrilling to watch concepts come to life, transforming ideas on paper into actual events.

In March 2023, my now business partner and I had a conversation over brunch about our shared dream of starting our own event company. That was the spark that led to the creation of Vision Events Agency. Our goal was simple: to bring our clients’ visions to life through unforgettable events. By June 2023, we officially launched, and since then, we’ve been doing just that—turning dreams into reality, one event at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but then again, nothing worth having ever is. In 2021, just a year into this journey, I almost quit. I put in my resignation in August and told my employer that after our last major event—a 3-day conference in October—I wouldn’t be coming back. My role had a strong spiritual component, so not only was I balancing the logistics of organizing large events, but also navigating the challenges of ministry. I was young and had never faced the pressures of being a leader, managing 100-200 volunteers while also handling the workload of planning over 24 events a year. It was overwhelming.

But from August to October, I learned two crucial lessons that changed everything for me and helped me push forward instead of giving up. First, I learned that your calling is like carrying a kettlebell. At first, it’s heavy and uncomfortable. You can either put it down or keep holding on and realize how much stronger you can become. The second lesson is that your calling is worth fighting for. Along the way, you’ll face obstacles, criticism, doubts, and insecurities that try to pull you off course. But it’s up to you whether you let them win or you fight back.

Those mindset shifts are what helped me stay on course, stay on staff at the church, and ultimately discover my love for events and the foundation for my business. If it weren’t for those challenges, I wouldn’t have the mental fortitude to run my business the way I do today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Vision Events Agency. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Vision Events Agency is an event company specializing in both event planning and design. We truly value our clients and cherish the relationships we build with them. We’re forever grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such meaningful moments. No event is too big or too small for us—whether it’s an intimate dinner or a large company conference, we handle it all with care and dedication.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in Miami, Florida, with my mom and three siblings, sharing the middle child spot with my fraternal twin sister. From the start, I always felt like I didn’t quite fit in. As a white, red-headed, freckle-faced girl in a family and city where most people had tan skin and dark hair, I often felt different. But I also had this natural urge to take charge, to the point that my family would joke I acted like I was the mom. I was definitely the goofball—always making jokes and entertaining everyone around me.

Creativity has always been my thing—whether it was fashion, drawing, cooking, baking, or writing. I used to make collages from magazines and put them on the covers of my binders. My outfits were never complete without accessories, usually something pink, and writing was my constant outlet. I even dreamed of becoming an actress, though I was always too shy to ever act on it.

As I got older, my interests stayed the same. That drive to lead and create never left. But with family struggles, I found myself drifting off course. I got lost in partying and drinking at a young age. Thankfully, after graduating high school, I was able to turn things around and make a change.
