Hi Madelaine , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story feels as though it has been unfolding my entire life. I grew up in a home where celebrations were constant—my mom loved hosting and planning parties—and before I knew it, that joy became mine as well. There is something deeply fulfilling about creating an experience and then watching people truly enjoy themselves. That happiness is what has always driven me.
Before I ever studied Event Management at the University of Central Florida, my mother, Nancy Greene, helped come up with the name of my business. That simple moment planted a seed and is one of the many reasons my business holds such personal meaning for me. In 2016, I enrolled at UCF and found my place within the Hospitality program, focusing on Event Management. I graduated in 2018 and went on to gain experience working with well-known brands such as Hilton and Marriott. I even spent time working in a completely different industry, but something was always missing.
I continued applying for event manager and wedding sales manager roles—anything that would allow me to stay close to the world I loved—but the opportunities never quite came together. Eventually, I realized I was waiting for someone else to take a chance on me, when I needed to take that chance myself. That realization led to the creation of Exquisite Elegant Events LLC.
Today, my business serves a wide range of events, from birthday celebrations and quinceañeras to corporate gatherings. However, weddings are where I truly shine. I offer everything from day-of coordination to partial and full-service planning, and nothing compares to witnessing a bride walk down the aisle and seeing the look on her partner’s face in that moment—it never gets old and remains my favorite part of the job.
Exquisite Elegant Events is more than a business to me; it is a reflection of my journey, my passion, and my belief in betting on yourself. As 2026 approaches, I’m excited to see how far this journey will take me. My calendar is open for 2026 and beyond, and I can’t wait to continue creating unforgettable moments for couples and clients alike.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is starting a business ever smooth—especially in the beginning? The honest answer is no. Building my own business has come with its fair share of challenges. From the start, one of the biggest obstacles was simply getting my name out there in a saturated industry. Visibility doesn’t happen overnight, and learning to be patient while consistently showing up was a challenge in itself.
Another struggle has been navigating an industry that thrives on reputation and relationships. Success is deeply tied to the connections you make and the quality of work you deliver. Early on, there was constant pressure to ensure that every event I took on reflected my best work, knowing that each client experience and review could directly impact future bookings. That weight can feel heavy when you’re building from the ground up.
Rather than viewing these struggles as setbacks, I see them as part of the growth process. I’ve learned to take things one step at a time, refining my craft, building meaningful relationships, and trusting that consistency and quality will speak for themselves. Slowly but surely, my name is getting out there—and each challenge I’ve faced has strengthened both my business and my confidence as an entrepreneur.

Every wedding I take on is treated as if it were my own, and I’m intentional about delivering high-quality experiences that naturally lead to strong referrals and repeat business. In an industry driven by word-of-mouth, that trust means everything to me.

I wouldn’t say that I have a single mentor I turn to for guidance; however, Central Florida offers a strong network of industry resources that have been invaluable to my growth. Organizations such as Wedding Venue Map and the Central Florida Wedding Association provide meaningful opportunities to connect with fellow professionals, gain insight, and stay engaged within the wedding and events community.
Both are outlets I plan to remain actively involved with in 2026 and beyond.
