Inspiring Conversations with Marie Colon of The Loop Cosmetic and Family Dentistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Colon.

Hi Marie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in dentistry started at the Ibero American University in the Dominican Republic, where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After that, I completed a two-year residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where I was humbled to be named Resident of the Year and later serve as Chief Resident. I also had the joy of teaching as an Assistant Professor, helping guide future dentists before moving fully into practice.

Through the years, I’ve worked in both corporate dentistry and private practices, and each step taught me something important, whether it was sharpening my clinical skills, learning how to support patients with special medical needs, or simply understanding the importance of making people feel comfortable in the dental chair.

Eventually, I realized my dream was to create a space of my own, somewhere I could combine the latest technology with a truly personal touch. That dream became The Loop Cosmetic & Family Dentistry here in Kissimmee. My vision has always been simple: to treat every patient like family and make sure they leave not just with a healthier smile, but with confidence and peace of mind.

Being bilingual in English and Spanish has also been such a gift, because it allows me to connect deeply with our diverse community. At the end of the day, dentistry for me has never just been about fixing teeth, it’s about people, relationships, and trust that lasts a lifetime.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. After completing my residency and serving as faculty in Puerto Rico, life took an unexpected turn when I moved to Florida to start fresh. Like many professionals who leave behind everything familiar, I faced the challenges of adapting to a new country, a new culture, and building my career from the ground up without the support system I once had.

I worked in both corporate dentistry and private practice, which wasn’t always easy. There were long hours, limited control over patient care, and moments where I questioned whether I would ever be able to create the type of practice I truly envisioned. At the same time, I was balancing my responsibilities as a mother and navigating the uncertainty of starting over.

Those struggles, however, gave me resilience and perspective. They pushed me to grow, to refine not only my clinical skills but also my vision for the kind of dentist and leader I wanted to be. Today, as the owner of The Loop Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, I look back at those challenges with gratitude because they shaped the compassionate, determined professional I am now. My story is proof that with faith, persistence, and hard work, obstacles can become stepping stones.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At The Loop Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we like to think of ourselves as more than just a dental office, we’re a place where patients feel at home. We care for the whole family, from little ones to grandparents, and we combine advanced technology with a gentle, personal approach so that every visit feels comfortable and stress-free.

We specialize in cosmetic and family dentistry, which means we handle everything from routine cleanings to smile makeovers, dental implants, veneers, and even Botox. What sets us apart is not only the services we offer but how we deliver them with kindness, patience, and a genuine desire to make every person feel cared for.
One thing I’m most proud of is the environment we’ve created. Our office was designed to feel welcoming and modern, with the latest technology to ensure patients get the very best care. But just as important as technology is the human side, we take the time to listen, to explain, and to make patients feel comfortable at every step.

Our brand is built on honesty, compassion, and trust. We’re here to change the way people think about going to the dentist, and to remind them that a beautiful smile is not only about appearance, it’s about health, confidence, and quality of life. At The Loop, your smile truly is our passion.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Yes, I’d love for readers to know that dentistry is so much more than fixing teeth. It’s about building confidence, restoring health, and creating relationships that last. My team and I at The Loop Cosmetic & Family Dentistry are here to serve our community with compassion, honesty, and the latest technology, but most importantly, with heart. If you’ve been putting off a visit because of fear, past experiences, or just a busy life, I want you to know you’re not alone, and we’re here to make your experience different. We welcome patients like family, and it’s our greatest joy to see someone walk out of our office smiling brighter, not just because of their teeth, but because they feel truly cared for. At the end of the day, my message is simple: your smile matters, and so do you.
