Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Patten.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in a large family, I constantly had opportunities to seek creative ways to engage others, making almost anything an adventure. This continued when I got married and started my own family. When my 14-year hospitality career was eliminated during the pandemic, I turned the page to help support my family’s future. I combined my magic-making experience as a Disney Cast Member with my lifelong love of theme parks and stories to create Next Page with Meg. My scavenger hunts, which I call Story Hunts, themed letter bundles, and activity packs, celebrate the stories hidden in front of us and immerse you in an epic adventure.
My offerings now cover Disney World as well as select Disney Cruise Line and I am adding options for Universal Orlando Resort and Disneyland.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Next Page with Meg was formed in August 2021 when vacationing was slowly re-emerging from the World Pandemic. Next Page with Meg began as a service to experience popular vacation destinations within all recommended health guidelines at the time. It proved to be a big launch as many people visiting destinations such as Walt Disney World wanted to fill their vacation time with activities that allowed them to explore in new and safe ways.
As the years unfolded, the customer base for Next Page with Meg leveled off as the more traditional attractions operate closer to normal. With the evolving market, Next Page with Meg continues to build trust, revamp products, and find new ways to reach customers – all on social media, which has a broad reach but also a lot of competition and nuances. There is still a market for people seeking creative ways to vacation with offerings like scavenger hunts, whether using them pre-, during, or post-vacation.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My mission is to make moments extraordinary, whether on vacation or at home, by providing a blueprint to discover fun details in life’s stories. I take everyday objects and creatively make them part of a greater puzzle to solve, revealing opportunities to explore. Because of this, people have used my products for some of life’s most precious moments. People have made Story Hunts the basis for getting engaged, welcoming a family member from the military home, and bonding as a team. My letter bundles and theme activities have revealed vacations, kept family holiday traditions alive, and made birthdays more fun! I have always believed there is magic in the world, and it is in the connections we make with people. I am honored to be a part of those connections, even if I never meet them in person.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite memories from childhood have to do with traveling. We had yearly trips to Disney and side trips to historical sites. Each trip involved fun and true exploration, learning new things while we discovered interesting facts. This is why I grew up loving Epcot just as much as the Magic Kingdom or going to Williamsburg as much as a local amusement park.
