Inspiring Conversations with Melissa Bautista of MELA VIE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Bautista

Hi Melissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I founded MELA VIE, a wellness brand with a mission to empower women through mindset and movement resources, to embrace intentional living, helping them cultivate a body that feels like home.

But before that, I was one of the millions battling body image issues, trapped in cycles of comparison, dieting, and self-criticism. My relationship with my body was like a constant seesaw—punishing myself with restrictive diets and excessive exercise, only to fall off and start again.

It wasn’t until I began deepening my faith in God that my perspective shifted. For the first time, I began filling my mind with verses that described my body as a temple—fearfully and wonderfully made, created with intention and purpose. That’s when I realized how deeply the way we as women feel about our bodies affects every aspect of our lives—shaping how we show up in our careers, relationships, and beyond. The belief that our worth and potential are tied to a number on the scale has crushed more women’s dreams than anything else.

It was at that moment that I decided I was done waiting on my weight. I committed to loving, respecting, and honoring my body as the incredible home it is for me. By shifting my perspective, I found the freedom to move my body consistently and eat intuitively. And in doing so, I unlocked a strength and freedom I never knew existed.

This journey led me to create the Move With Purpose Mindset and Movement Journal—a 12-week guide to shedding body shame, transforming mindset, and reclaiming body freedom. Through MELA VIE, I want other women to experience that same transformation and embrace the freedom that comes from seeing their bodies as worthy, just as they are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! The challenges have been both external and internal. Externally, I’ve faced setbacks like navigating overseas printers, dealing with shipping delays, and learning the often surprising costs of running a product-based business. Balancing a part-time job while trying to build MELA VIE has been its own juggling act, not to mention diving into marketing and sales, which was entirely new territory for me.

But the real challenge has been mental. I’ve had to overcome doubts—wondering if I’m smart enough to be an entrepreneur, if I have the grit and determination to figure out what I don’t know. And then, there’s the constant work of believing in myself, my vision, and my product—that MELA VIE is something women truly need.

Every obstacle has been a lesson in resilience and faith. This journey has taught me that success isn’t about never facing challenges; it’s about having the courage to push through them, trusting in your purpose, and believing you are capable of creating something that can truly make an impact. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you have everything within you to figure it out—one step, one challenge, one leap of faith at a time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MELA VIE?
MELA VIE is all about empowering women to break free from body shame and truly feel at home in their bodies. Through our mindset and movement resources, like our 12 week fitness journal, we help women cultivate healthier habits, not from a place of guilt or perfectionism but from a place of love, compassion, and grace.

Our message is clear: your worth is not defined by your weight. You no longer have to wait on your weight to cultivate joy, love or confidence- you can begin living fully now while making the changes you want. You deserve to live a full, joyful life in your body, at any stage, no matter what your body looks like.

What sets MELA VIE apart is our deeply personal approach to wellness. We aren’t just another fitness brand focused on diets or quick fixes. We know that lasting change begins with how we view ourselves. Our focus is on healing the relationship women have with their bodies. We understand that mental and emotional well-being is just as important as physical health, and our resources reflect that balance.
MELA VIE is a safe space for women to transform their mindset, break free from the shame that has held them back, and feel empowered to live a purposeful and healthy life.

I’m most proud of how MELA VIE has become a supportive community where women feel seen and encouraged. Hearing stories of women finding freedom from body shame, reconnecting with their bodies, changing their inner dialogue, and experiencing joy in movement brings me so much joy. Knowing that MELA VIE is creating a positive ripple effect is what makes this journey so fulfilling.

I want your readers to know that MELA VIE is here to walk alongside them, no matter where they are on their wellness journey. Our flagship product, the 12-week Move With Purpose journal, is designed to help women break free from the limiting beliefs that hold them back so that they are free to build habits that sustain them for a lifetime. Whether you’re struggling with body image, self-sabotage, or the overwhelming pressure to be perfect, this journal will guide you through a journey of self-love, movement, and mindfulness.

We have also begun offering group challenges, where women can come together (virtually or in person), stay accountable, and build the habits needed to live a purpose-driven life. Above all, MELA VIE is about creating a life that feels fulfilling—inside and out. You don’t have to wait until you’ve hit a certain goal weight or “fixed” something about yourself. You’re worthy of wellness and joy right now.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 crisis was a stark reminder that life is unpredictable. While we can’t control what happens to us, we do have control over how we treat ourselves and others. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to ask: Are we giving our bodies the best chance to thrive and live a long, healthy life? Are we clearing out the mental space that body shame occupies, so we can focus on what truly matters—like enjoying the gift that is our life, serving others, making a positive impact, and pursuing the dreams God placed on our hearts?

This pandemic taught me that our purpose runs deeper than our appearance. It’s about showing up with love and respect for ourselves and others, stepping into the roles only we can fulfill, and living intentionally in a way that aligns with our God-given purpose. Now, more than ever, is the time to prioritize what truly matters.
