Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Solano of Solcium Solar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Solano.

Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After an established career of consulting with reputable higher education institutions, the passing of Amendment 1 in Florida prompted me to start a career in sustainable energy. I kicked off that journey with a position at Tesla Energy where I rose to become the Regional MVP within three months.

From there I started working at the country’s largest solar installer which offered me an intimate look into the operational side of the industry. This experience gave me the confidence and knowledge required to launch my own version of the solar business. I wanted to create something based off more – more integrity, more transparency, more truth, more love. It was from those core values that Solcium Solar was created and modeled after.

I’m a big believer that curiosity is key and that plus my genuine desire to learn, discover and seek new information is what drove me to become an entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m taking the road less traveled approach, which is always a little bumpier than the status quo. My unwillingness to settle for anything less than truthful practices and genuine partnerships means being steadfast on finding the right people in the right seats on the bus and learning to hold firm when it comes to aligning around values.

At Solcium Solar, we offer our clients a true partnership based off of education, collaboration and active listening. Unfortunately, the industry is saturated with less than desirable companies who feed off of consumers with their misleading gimmicks and aggressive sales tactics.

Additionally, the monopolization of the grid by large companies is threatening the industry in an attempt to dismantle net metering (the exchange of power between the solar system and the grid, which lends an incentive to homeowners for going solar) in the State of Florida.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Solcium Solar, we believe that solid partnerships are the building blocks behind every success story. By approaching every aspect of our business model with transparency and integrity, we have built a foundation of industry-leading experts and lifelong clients.

Our approach is simple: we listen, educate and collaborate. Solcium is dedicated to offering our partners the highest-level of unbiased industry education, so they are empowered to make the right decision based on their needs, not ours.

Being a good partner is built into our name. Solcium is a derivative of the Latin word Socius (noun), meaning partner or ally.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
With the increase in demand and manufacturing of electric vehicles, the utility companies and local municipalities will soon face the need to update the current electrical grid system to handle the influx of household consumption and provide charging stations in convenient locations.

Additionally, I foresee the technology of battery backup / storage solutions, which is relatively new to the market in comparison to solar panels, rapidly catching up which will eliminate our dependency on the grid and net metering.
