Inspiring Conversations with Mikayla Hicks of Planted Prayer Garden Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikayla Hicks.

Mikayla Hicks

Hi Mikayla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a healthcare worker and wellness enthusiast, gardening quickly became a passion of mine. While working through the peak of the Covid 19 pandemic, I took up gardening as a mindfulness practice.

By day, I work as an Anesthesiologist Assistant. When I’m not in the operating room, I’m in my happy place… my garden!

I believe that everyone has a green thumb and should have access to healthy food right in their backyard!

I’ve made it my mission to encourage, inspire, and empower all people to grow some of their own organic produce!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing my business has definitely not been a smooth road. My biggest struggle has been balancing working full time while trying to start a business from the ground up. It has taken a lot of careful planning and discipline with time management to juggle it all. I figured out early on that I needed help!

I’m so grateful to my amazing husband, Greg for keeping me grounded. Akiera, my assistant from The Southernlee Social, keeps me organized. Kevaughn, from KB Productions is my awesome photographer and videographer that always makes me look good!

I truly wouldn’t be able to be as successful as I’ve been without this incredible team!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a garden consultant, I help people grow beautiful and thriving gardens! I specialize in edible garden and want to encourage health and wellness from within. My aim is to empower all people to grow some of their own produce with whatever space they have available. I truly believe everyone has a green thumb, and we just need to cultivate it together!
