Inspiring Conversations with Nick Reno of Reach Programs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Reno

Hi Nick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In July 2020, I started REACH Programs with a vision to create something special for our community—and it quickly took off. What began as a small initiative has grown into a thriving program that now serves hundreds of families in Clermont.

REACH Programs was developed as a community outreach program at Imagine South Lake Charter School with a mission to strengthen community bonds and provide high-quality opportunities for children and families. Our name—R.E.A.C.H. (Responsibility, Excellence, Accomplishment, Character, and Heart)—reflects the core values we instill in everything we do.

Today, we offer a wide range of programs for youth and adults, including sports leagues, recreational programs, club basketball and volleyball, summer camps, and community events. Whether it’s giving kids their first experience in sports, helping athletes compete at a higher level, or providing a space for adults to stay active, our goal remains the same: to serve and uplift our community through sports and recreation.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not always been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles has been staffing and managing growth. As the program rapidly grew, finding the right people to help sustain and elevate has been a challenge. In the beginning, we had a small staff, which meant I had to wear every hat—officiating games, running practices, coaching, handling marketing, running administrative tasks, and everything in between. There were some very late nights

We’ve been impressed with Reach Programs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We believe in providing the best sports and recreation experience in Lake County. What truly sets us apart from other programs is our quality and communication.

Before launching in July 2020, we met with parents, coaches, and community members to ask them what they wanted in a recreation sports program. One of the top concerns we heard was that seasons were too short—many felt that after just six games, teams were finally improving, and then the season was over. Some even said they would pay more just to have more games. We listened and built our program around that need.

Our recreational sports program now offers more games than any other local program, with 10+ games and a full playoff system. This gives players more opportunities to develop, compete, and enjoy the game. Beyond that, we put a big focus on coaching quality. We invest in and support great coaches, setting high standards to make sure the ones who continue with us are truly committed to excellence. It’s not just about building a strong program—it’s about creating a positive, supportive environment where athletes of all levels can grow, compete, and love the game. At the end of the day, great coaches don’t just teach skills; they shape character, build confidence, and make a lasting impact on the community. In my opinion, We don’t just run leagues—we build a sports community where athletes can grow and compete from rec to competitive club.

What does success mean to you?
I believe success is about impact. It’s about creating something meaningful that serves others, provides opportunities for growth, and ensures people feel heard and valued. True success isn’t just about achieving goals but about making a lasting difference in the lives of those around you.
