Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Nguyen.
Hi Raven, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
With a background in Disney hospitality, Daniel and I set out to create a fun and welcoming place for all ages – to share our passion for exceptional customer service, craft boba, and cultural fare. Our motto: “It’s not just boba, it’s the boba experience.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a small business definitely has its obstacles and of course the pandemic required a few (more like A LOT 0f) setbacks. Florida went under lockdown for a few weeks and Covid lead to extreme supply shortages. As a boba shop, our supplies come internationally and once we were able to finally reopen, our menu was greatly minimized due to the shortage. It actually was quite bittersweet because we were able to take things slow and put attention to detail in the creative direction of our brand.

WHAT WE DO & WHO WE ARE: We aim for quality boba with quality service. Dang Boba and Musubi House is a place where we make an effort to treat everyone as if they are a guest in our home. We actively strive to make an effort for our guests to feel welcomed and taken care of as soon as they walk through our cafe doors.
WHAT WE SPECIALIZE IN / KNOWN FOR / SETS US APART FROM OTHERS:
Our café and Bobaristas are specialized in craft boba – offering a variety of boba tea flavors with freshly brewed loose leaf tea ranging from Jasmine Green, Thai Tea, Oolong, Chai Tea, Earl Grey, and more. We are known for our Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Mascarpone Cheese Crema Topping, Vanilla Chai Milk Tea, and also offering a variety of milk options for our vegan guests. Although most common boba shops offer honey boba, our tapioca boba specifically is vegan-friendly. Our tapioca boba is infused with brown sugar to give it that subtle warm caramel flavor.
Our à la carte Spam Musubis are individually and carefully hand wrapped. All our musubis are made-to-order to ensure our guests savor every quality bite. Our musubi menu has certainly become a fan favorite in the neighborhood. Top Seller: Volcano Musubi (2 Classic Spam Musubis topped with house mild spicy torched crabmeat and furikake seasoning)
WHAT WE ARE MOST PROUD OF:
It has always been our goal to become an independent brand and share what we love to do. When Dang Boba & Musubi House was born, our staff and our community were our biggest supporters and it will never go unnoticed.
BRANDING:
It was easy thinking about the creative direction of our brand. Without hesitation, we knew our logo would be a pig (because our daughter was born the Year of the Pig in 2019). She is the pure light in our lives. Our pig logo is a constant reminder of why we do what we do.
THE FUTURE OF DANG BOBA:
Our storefront has met all our expectations. Seeing everyone’s faces and their sense of discovery as they are enjoying our drinks and food is more than we can ask for. We have had multiple requests for catering and we thought, why not bring boba experiences outside of our store walls. Therefore, we became mobile! We are excited to recently offer catering services and call it our “Dang Boba Bar”. Our Dang Boba Bar is an open-bar concept while our Bobaristas serve to the guests. Now families and friends can enjoy their own boba experiences with their loved ones at their events! Our Boba Bars are unique and one-of-a-kind. It includes an aesthetic full setup Boba Bar station that is warm and inviting. We’ve catered at multiple weddings, birthdays, and even baby showers. We’re beyond excited to be able to share our Boba Bar with everyone, because “it’s not just boba, it’s the boba experience”. =)
