Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Cuocco.
Hi Renee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story on how I started Pretty Packers LLC goes a bit back. I began my journey in the moving industry back in 2006, when a friend of mine Paul from Texas called me out of the blue advising he is starting a moving compay and wants me to partner with him to run the sales and operations. Having no experience in logistics and moving I was reluctant as I had a cushy VP position in Corporate America with Fidelity National Title Insurance located in NYC as a title closing agent and sales manager.
As the housing market continued to get worse and worse in 2006/2007, I had a sit down with my family advising that I was propositioned to start a moving company, and I would be leaving my generous paying salaried corporate job and enter the world of entrepreneurship. Without hesitation my stepfather said “Without risk, there’s no reward.” The next day Lonestar Moving was born.
Lonestar moving was a full sevice licensed and insured tri-state area (NY, NJ & CT) moving company. I built that company from the ground up starting out with myself, Paul from TX, and George (our lead foreman) and one moving van that I sold a watch to purchase the van.
I was in charge of the office, sales, licensing, marketing, (the entire operations) while Paul was in charge of estmating, the actual moves and managing our 1 employee George. Our first moving job was in Brooklyn, a 1 bedroom apartment on the 5th floor. No elevator.
Within 2 months of starting my moving company, I purchased my very first 16ft box truck for cash and we were growing. by my 10th year in business I had a fleet of 7 26ft trucks, 17 employees (movers), and no longer had Paul as a partner. I let him go as he was stealing from the company, and I ran the moving company from top to bottom myself. What a ride that was for over 10 years. I grew so fast. A woman moving company owner in the heart of NYC was not very popular with the Russians for sure. I was harassed by some of the Russian owned large moving companies. They threatened me, they had their people write bad reviews about my company on multiple sites that I had to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars to have removed. Yelp it still shows, but no-one looks at Yelp anymore as we know. That didn’t stop me. I was reputable, honest and it was what the industry needed. Some honesty for sure.
Then on 11/22/2017, the day before Thanksgiving, I received the dreadful news that my mother had passed away in her sleep and my stepfather had committed suicide by shooting himself as he held my mothers hand laying next to her. This was one of the most difficult times in my entire life. I made the decision 6 months later to close my moving company that I worked so hard on for so many years as I was finding it just to hard to maintain due to the tragedy. I sold all 7 of my trucks, I placed my best guys (movers) with other reputable moving companies so they were not unemployed, I sold my book of business and took a 6 month break from working at all to decompress and adjust to a new life without my mother and stepfather whom were my best friends.
In 2019, I made the decision to follow my best friend who moved to Ormond Beach over 20 years ago. I packed up my house on Long Island, hired the Mayflower to move me from Long Island to Ormond Beach, and even inquired on how to become an in home moving sales consultant with the gentleman who came to perfom mine for my move. (Funny, I remember while I was packing the boxes, thinking to myself how much I liked packing and how calming it was). I guess that was the initial seed planted to my destined future.
September 15th 2019, I officially moved to Ormond Beach with my 2 cats Buddy and Chloe, rented a 1 bedroom apartment. October 1, 2019 I was a full time in home moving sales consultant with All My Sons Moving located in Orlando. They flew me down to Dallas for a 2 week training. (The best training I received by the way). I learned how to estimate for local and long distance moves by cubic feet. Learned the measurements. I learned how to do packing estimates, learned what items get packed in a specific size box and why. I learned how to open a kitchen cabinet and decipher what size boxes to use. The most influential trainings I have ever received to date.
Within 6 months, I was one of the top ten sales personnel, then Covid came to town. The in home sales consultants were phased out. All estimates were now being performed virtually and their corporate sales team handled those. I was now unemployed looking for work. I emailed my resume to a few local moving companies and within a month, I started a new position with Cento Moving as their sales manager.
I basically managed the entire moving company like it was my own. I remember my very first day, letting go of 1/2 of the movers on-site, and 5 of the foreman and movers from All My Sons Moving followed me to Cento Moving as they knew I was an honest salesperson, looked our for the client and the movers which made the clients happy and my movers happy. I am still in contact with a few to this day.
After 2 solid years of revamping Cento Moving, I decided to take a break from the almost 20 years of the moving industry, and work back in the title insurance industry. Thinking it would be less aggressive of an industry. Well, I was wrong……
The title insurance indsutry here in Florida is much different then the industry in New York. New York is an Attorney State. Meaning the Attorney’s write up the contracts, handle the closings. The title closers in New York attend the closings for a specific rate representing the title company and get tipped as instructed by the Attorney’s representing by the seller and buyer. Here in FL. The title company handles the entire closing process, except for writing up the real estate sales contract and get paid 1/2 of what NY title reps get paid. Not as glamorous for sure. I learned alot about how FL real estate and title work. Made some lifelong friends and colleagues, do not regret the decision at all. . They say knowledge is power.
I was in my 2nd year of working for 3 title companies in Volusia County, trying to find the right fit for me. This was challenging being a feisty professional from NY. My bold personlaity and work ethic did not go well with some of the “managers”and I had a feeling I was being “let go” soon. With that feeling I had, while out to dinner with some girlfriends I mentioned to the group that I had a feeling I was being let go, and came up with the idea that I could go back in the moving industry next time without having to deal with the actual moving sales, movers, operations, damages, etc. My idea started running through my brain and I blurted out that I can start a new business called it Pretty Packers, I can manage peoples move, pack them for their home, unpack them, and connect with reputable, fully licensed and insured family owned local moving companies. My friends were astonished of how I came up with the idea so fast. I even called my biological father (still living) in Naples, FL to draw up a logo as he is an artist. He loved the idea, but was apprehensive of me getting back into the moving industry as it’s one of the most stressful industries to work in.
Well, 3 months later after my initial conversation with my friends at dinner, I was indeed let go. 1 day later I went on Sunbiz to see if the name Pretty Packers was even available. 5 minutes later, I took the name Pretty Packers and formed my LLC within 15 minutes. Even created my Pretty Packers LLC facebook that same day. Throughout that process I constantly heard my stepfather’s voice saying “Without risk there’s no reward”. The official date birthday of Pretty Packers is 8/7/2023. I do not regret a single experience (except the death of my parents) that I endured as all experiences eventually lead you to your destined path.

I am honored and grateful for the open arms the community has given me on my Pretty Packers LLC journey. I am grateful of the support, trust and opportunities to serve and protect our community from being scammed, over-charged and swindled from the bad movers. It feels good to work in purpose on purpose. There is nothing better than watching a client shift from stress to satisfaction within 1 hour from our consultation.
As of today, June 29, 2025 I have partnered with 7 local and long distance moving compnaies, who carry the same professional and personal ethics that I carry. I have indeed a family of trusted professionals to serve our community. I have 3 lovely ladies that assist in the packing and unpacking processes. I feel blessed and honored.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It defintely has not been a smooth road. But as we know anything good always comes with some bumps and challenges.
My first challenge was gaining the respect and trust in the community. Coming from NY we are fast paced, there are alot more people (alot) even our accents are aggressive… Down here in FL I have had to tone it down. This took my almost 4 years to learn. I had to learn to be less NY basically.
Clients (especially my senior clients) love that I am from NY because they know I will get the job done. I am like an octopus they say. I have 8 arms….But when it comes to other professional service providers I have had to learn to tone it down, as not evryone works at my pace. The ones that do, bring it. The ones that don’t I have trained my brain to relax….
Networking is challenging for me as well. I am not able to be in 2 places at once. If I am packing a client, it is hard for me to attend the majority of events, unless I plan it a month in advance. I am getting therfe though. Without the 3 lovely ladies that are on my team, I wouldn’t be able to attend any events.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Pretty Packers LLC?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What we love most about our city is the community spirit. There’s something truly special about how neighbors support each other here—whether it’s small businesses lifting each other up, families helping families or locals showing love at events and markets. It’s a place where connections matter, and that’s exactly what Pretty Packers is built on. The people are real, grounded, and full of grit—and we’re proud to serve them.
What we like least? The lack of reliable moving resources for everyday people. Too many folks are left confused or misled by online brokers posing as movers, and that’s where people get hurt—both financially and emotionally. That’s actually one of the big reasons Pretty Packers exists: to be a trustworthy bridge between clients and quality moving services. We’re here to fill that gap with honesty, heart, and hustle.
