Inspiring Conversations with Rob Kirkland of Whitmire’s Furniture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Kirkland.

Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was 13 years old when my cousins offered me a summer job at the family furniture store, Whitmire’s Furniture. I loved it and continue to work part time with them until graduating from college with my B.A. After graduation I transitioned to being there full time. That was over 24 years ago.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
From my perspective it was a smooth transition from part time to full time.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are family owned and operated and have been serving the central Florida (and beyond) since 1947. We specialize in quality furniture that is American made. We offer big brands like La-Z-Boy, England Furniture and Best Home Furnishings. As well as smaller brands that offer a tremendous value to our customers. One of our greatest assets is the relationship we have formed with the Amish furniture builders in Ohio. From them we can offer the highest quality solid wood furniture with plenty of custom options at great prices.
We are a full line furniture store, meaning we carry upholstered goods and wood furniture for every room in your house. For example we offer, bedroom, dining room, living room, home office, outdoor furniture, and even American made mattresses.

We pride ourselves with providing great customer service. We have no commissioned sales people and it is everyone’s goal to service the customer beyond their expectations. We currently have a 4.8 rating on Google and are striving to bring it up even higher!

How do you think about happiness?
I love seeing customer’s come back and continue to shop with us. Also, having generational customers, meaning families that have shopped with use for 2 or 3 generations is a unique experience we are grateful for. .
