Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Egan.
Hi Sabrina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My first plants were a handful of cacti that I eagerly bought for my first solo apartment back in 2015. I really hit the ground running and fell in love with all things plants in early 2019. I was on a mission to collect as many different plants as I could and my house had quickly became an urban jungle! I have struggled with mental illness for years but found that I had found such overwhelming purpose in my day-to-day life when I found my love for indoor gardening. As each plant I cared for grew and flourished, I found that I was too.
With Ease Greenery was always a daydream for me. Support from my family and friends lead me to pour my whole self into making With Ease into a reality. In 2021, what was once just a hobby is now going to have a shop inside a local market called Sōshin, coming to the Ivanhoe Village in the Fall.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have had some struggles with my business but I am very lucky to have friendships with other local small businesses and creatives to look to for advice on those situations. Some struggles I have experienced were mostly due to bad timing and imposter syndrome.
I really poured my heart into With Ease when I first launched. The original idea was just online sales and pop-ups! Sales were booming in the beginning but began to slow down, which caused a whole lot of anxiety and worry. Luckily, word of mouth saved the day and helped sales to pick up after a nerve-racking time. I definitely didn’t think that I would have a collection in store so soon into my small business’ timeline, but the anticipation I have been seeing from the community for us to open has been an amazing motivator to get back into action!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
With Ease Greenery is a woman-owned plant store coming to Sōshin Market in Fall 2021 in the Ivanhoe Village. Sōshin will also feature adventure gear, apparel, and a coffee bar by Totally Coffee! the main goal for With Ease Greenery is accessibility through providing a curated collection of pampered and loved plants for a fair price point. I hope this encourages folks to add some green to their space and explore what this lifestyle and hobby may do for them!
Along with selling plants, we do offer services in the form of commercial plant styling and maintenance so your business can have a lush jungle with ease. Ha, get it?
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Definitely being personable. I care about what happens to all of these plants while in my care and once they go to their new forever home. I am always available for questions, advice, or just general plant chat. I truly can’t stop talking about plants, so this works out for everyone involved! It’s as easy as stopping in the store once we open or sending a DM to With Ease on social media. It’s all me, and you’re going to get that hands-on experience that my customers have come to love.
