Inspiring Conversations with Sabrina Kelley of Another Chance CPR and Healthcare Training

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Kelley.

Hi Sabrina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi there! My name is Sabrina Kelley! I am a Licensed Practical Nurse and Pediatric Home Care Nurse. I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 9 years. January 31, 2021, was my last day on payroll. Although I loved my previous jobs and the patients I took care of, I felt it was time for me to move on and create something of my own. Because I love helping people, I knew it had to be something within the healthcare industry. And after doing some research, I learned there was a need for basic CPR and First Aid classes as well as continuing education and recertification for healthcare workers. This is how my journey began.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning how to be a business owner has been a learning curve: just like becoming a parent, you are not responsible for yourself anymore. When I worked as a Pediatric Home Care Nurse, I fell in love with the children, so it was difficult for me to move on. Not having a steady paycheck was another challenge at the beginning of my journey.

Another Chance CPR and Healthcare Training began as a small part-time business venture to generate extra income. I had scarce resources at the time, so I started out traveling from home to home and business to business teaching Basic Life Support CPR to Healthcare Providers. I did this for about two years and, over time, built enough clientele to be able to generate enough income and finally lease an office space.

My first office space was less than 300 sq. ft., which was relatively small for my business, but I managed to make it work. Shortly after, I became a continuing education provider for Florida and was able to add more workshops for healthcare professionals and partner with other healthcare companies to become eligible to certify students following the completion of a National Exam. As a result, in May of 2021, I moved into an 1100 sq. ft. space with a reception area, two classrooms, two skills labs, and a private restroom. The additional space provided enough room to contract more instructors for specialty workshops and CPR classes.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Another Chance CPR and Healthcare Training?
Another Chance CPR and Healthcare Training is a healthcare education support center. We offer training and workshops to healthcare professionals to enhance their medical skills and remain compliant with their licensures. Our CPR and First Aid classes, however, are available to anyone who desires the knowledge. Medical practices and medical staffing agencies also use our services for staff to obtain certifications and Continuing Educations Units (CEU).

In addition, Another Chance CPR and Healthcare Training is an American Heart Association Training Site. We have 12 CPR instructors that are experienced in the healthcare industry. Our staff includes CNAs, nurses, nurse practitioners, and EMTs with over 50+ years of combined experience. We all teach as if the students would be taking care of our family members. We want them to know the proper steps and actions for a great experience and another chance at life. Our workshops provide hybrid learning, and our curriculum gets straight to the point without the fluff to get you certified and use the skills you have acquired.

Last not but not least, we offer CNA Exam Prep Courses to prepare you for the Florida State CNA Exam and Livescan Fingerprinting and Background Services.

We’d we love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
As a child, while hanging out in my family’s store with my siblings, my father talked to us about life and wisdom. He always stressed the importance of being in control of your own life and destiny. It took a while to get here, but I am happy to be able to provide the same experience to my grandchildren, which means everything to me. One of my grandsons visits my business three times a week and the other on Saturdays.
