Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to introduce yourself.
I’ve always wanted to work for myself and be my boss. Me being a young mom and going through a break up etc. Knowing what I wanted to do with a full-time job and kids was always hard. I hated not being able to have control of my life. I always like anything with fitness and also eye makeup. One day working my receptionist job at a dental office, my co-worker’s lashes caught my attention. They looked like they could be hers but fake at the same time, lol. So I asked her about them, and she told me they were eyelash extensions. At first, I was interested in getting the service done myself. But as o continued to look up any with lashes, I became obsessed and decided to learn how to do them myself to make it a “side hustle” and get extra income for my kids and me to get our place to stay. I was living with my mom and siblings then, and I started my side business in my Lil sister’s room. I never stopped practicing and always worked at least 3 days a week on the weekend or evening after work to make extra money. About 7 months later, I quit my job and for myself. The best feeling ever and scary at the same time. It’s been about 2 and a half years, and I am still doing lashes and training people who want to learn the craft. I recently became so interested in body sculpting and starting that part of my business; I’m excited to help my clients reach their body goals. The key is never giving up, especially on slow days or weeks.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
When I started lashing 2 months later, Covid happened, making my process even slower. I had a hand full of clients that would still come because they still had to work. Still, I was good with my money and living with my mother for longer to make my journey continue. Instead of taking a “break” before, I was strict on my policies. I would lose money because people would cancel at the last min. Since I started sticky to my policies, I’ve noticed a better outcome and don’t lose as much money to make ends meet.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do eyelash extensions and now just starting my body sculpting business. I am known for my classic set lashes, primarily for my natural girls, and my sets last 2-3 weeks. My clients have told me that they love my vibe and how sweet and professional o am with them. My clients make or break my business, so I always try to give them the look they want and help them with appointments if I don’t have a spot that fits them. I also educate my clients a little bit o. The services they get so they understand what they are getting. I am proud of my branding and never giving up on what I wanted for myself and my family. My favorite service is wispy classic lashes, and now with the body sculpting, my favorite is getting rid of belly bloat.

Make me happy to have my own business. I am in charge; I can choose when to be with my kids—also being an example for my sisters. Also, being a friend to my clients and not just a service provider.
