Inspiring Conversations with Shayna Couture of Arnica Massage & Bodywork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shayna Couture.

Hi Shayna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in massage therapy began in 2012 at the Florida College of Natural Health, where I completed an advanced 1,000-hour bodywork program, double the state’s required training, and discovered how much I love helping people feel at ease in their bodies. In 2014, I launched Arnica Massage & Bodywork as a mobile business, setting up at local weekly markets offering chair massage and bringing full table massage into clients’ homes. Those early experiences helped me connect deeply with my community and laid the foundation for everything I do today.

Over time, my focus naturally shifted toward women’s wellness. When one of my classmates became pregnant during training, we learned to adapt our techniques for her safety and comfort, which sparked my passion for supporting women through every stage of motherhood. I later became a Certified Prenatal Massage Specialist and am now completing certification in Infant Massage Instruction to teach parents gentle techniques that help their little ones with colic, digestion, and sleep.

In April 2024, I finally put down roots and opened my studio in Baldwin Park, a calming, restorative space where every session is about healing, connection, and feeling truly cared for.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the way I work today. Building a consistent clientele takes time and patience, especially in a field where people’s schedules, financial situations, or even where they live can change so quickly.

For years, I traveled all over Central Florida offering mobile massage, which was rewarding but also exhausting. When I finally decided to open my studio, it felt like starting over in many ways. Around that same time, I decided to focus on my niche of working with prenatal and postpartum clients. I’ve always been drawn to supporting women through these transitions, and having a dedicated space has allowed me to create the calm, nurturing environment they deserve.

Rebuilding my clientele in one location has been a gradual process, but it’s also been incredibly fulfilling. Now I get to see familiar faces regularly, witness their progress over time, and build deeper connections with the people I serve. It’s been worth every challenge.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Arnica Massage & Bodywork?
Arnica Massage & Bodywork is a calm, nurturing space where people can truly slow down and reconnect with their bodies. I specialize in prenatal and postpartum massage, supporting women through every stage of pregnancy and recovery, including the first trimester.

Each session is customized to what the body needs that day, blending myofascial and trigger point therapy with a soothing, intuitive touch. I incorporate warm towels, herbal heat packs, aromatherapy, and my signature Arnica Salve, handcrafted with arnica-infused jojoba oil and essential oils to ease soreness and enhance relaxation.

The studio includes a cozy private lounge with a couch and TV where loved ones can wait comfortably during sessions. I’m most proud that this business has grown through genuine connection and word of mouth. My goal is for every client to leave feeling lighter, supported, and truly cared for.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that surprises most people is that I’m also a Certified Equine Massage Therapist. I’ve always been a huge animal lover, and before focusing exclusively on human clients, I spent time studying equine anatomy and learning what we ask of horses physically, especially when it comes to performance, posture, and balance. It gave me a deep appreciation for how much the body can carry and how important it is to support recovery and mobility in every form.

Even though I don’t work with horses these days, that experience still influences how I approach massage. It taught me to slow down, pay attention to subtle cues, and always work with intention and respect for the body in front of me.
