Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I received my Illinois cosmetology license in 2012. After leaving Corporate America in 2017, I moved to Orlando with my husband and two children. I transferred my license to Florida and decided to open Brown Sugar Wax Studio in January 2020.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My grand opening was slated for March 23, 2020, the same day we received notice that Florida was officially going on lockdown. I remember the panic I felt. Here I was, opening a new business at the start of a pandemic that no one saw coming. I remember telling my husband that I felt like a failure because I was going to have to close a business that I hadn’t even gotten the chance to officially open. But he reminded me of our faith and reassured me that it would all work out. Fast forward to June 5th, 2020, to say the least, my husband was right. Coming out of quarantine, everyone was looking to finally have contact with other people and they definitely wanted the hair they had been growing out removed! I have been blessed to have received so much support from this community. I’m happy to say that Brown Sugar Wax Studio is not only surviving the pandemic but it’s currently thriving!
As you know, we’re big fans of Brown Sugar Wax Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Brown Sugar Wax Studio uses a sugaring paste to safely remove unwanted hair from head to toe. The sugaring paste is 100% natural, containing only organic sugars, lemon juice, and water – with no chemicals, fragrances or coloring. It is hypoallergenic, so it will not cause skin irritation often experienced with traditional waxing.
Sugaring paste is applied at body temperature and will not burn your skin.
