Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Mendez
Hi Stacie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began with a passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges when I was a nanny. I nannied for a family of 3 for about 10 years. I’ve always been interested in understanding human behavior, emotions, and the dynamics that shape our relationships. This curiosity led me to pursue a career in mental health therapy, where I could work directly with individuals and couples to support their growth and healing.
I started by obtaining my training and certifications, including becoming Gottman-trained, which deepened my understanding of relationship dynamics and communication. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, from individuals struggling with anxiety and self-esteem to couples looking to strengthen their connection. I saw firsthand how small shifts in mindset and communication could lead to significant transformations, and that fueled my dedication even more.
To broaden my reach, I decided to grow my presence on Instagram. I wanted to create a platform where I could share educational, inspirational, and engaging content, making mental health support more accessible and relatable. It’s been an incredible experience to see the community grow, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to connect with people, whether through one-on-one sessions, workshops, or social media.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey certainly hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s true for most people building something meaningful. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is finding balance—both professionally and personally. Working in mental health can be emotionally demanding, and in the beginning, I found myself taking on the weight of my clients’ struggles, often at the expense of my own well-being. It took time to learn how to set boundaries, practice self-care, and ensure that I could be present for my clients without burning out.
Another challenge was stepping into the world of social media to grow my practice. I knew I wanted to create a platform that felt genuine, educational, and supportive, but it was intimidating at first to put myself out there in such a public way. I had to overcome self-doubt and the fear of not being “enough” in a space that can often be overwhelming and fast-paced.
Additionally, as I started to expand my practice, I faced the challenges of running a business. From understanding the intricacies of client management to developing marketing strategies, I realized that being a skilled therapist was just one part of the equation. I had to learn how to wear many hats—marketer, administrator, content creator—while still prioritizing my clients’ needs.
Through these struggles, I’ve learned resilience, patience, and the importance of seeking support when needed. These experiences have shaped who I am as a therapist and a person, and they’ve helped me build a practice that is not only successful but also sustainable and aligned with my core mission. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, and I’m grateful for the growth that has come from those difficult moments.
