Inspiring Conversations with Stephon Angry and Derek Taylor of Impyr Hookah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephon Angry and Derek Taylor.

Hi Stephon and Derek, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
During our college years in Tallahassee, FL, our group of friends stumbled upon a local hookah lounge and decided to try it out. It became one of our favorite hangouts and eventually turned into more of hobby. We began to dabble in the craft ourselves- learning the different components of hookah, what made a good hookah vs a bad hookah, experimenting with flavor mixtures, etc. We continually worked to improve our craft, decided to turn what had become a passion into a business, and here we are!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Thankfully we haven’t run into any major obstacles, but it hasn’t exactly been a smooth road. Impyr is fairly new, so getting off the ground has been challenging, especially during Covid. Navigating the pandemic was definitely a steep learning curve that we encountered early on. We know that pursuing your dreams requires hard work, effort, and patience. With high standards set for Impyr, we are confident that we will see our dream come to fruition.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Impyr Hookah provides hookah catering services throughout Greater Orlando and Tallahassee. Our brand is dedicated to creating and providing high-quality hookah experiences for venues including clubs, bars, restaurants, and private events. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have taken time to understand what makes quality hookah and look forward to providing the community with an exceptional experience. Ultimately our goal is for our hard work and effort to show through our product and the satisfaction of our customers.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Our biggest takeaway from the Pandemic has been the importance of resilience, adaptability, and thinking responsibly. Covid was a frightening time for everyone without a doubt. Ensuring the safety of ourselves and our customers was definitely on the forefront. During quarantine, we were able to brainstorm ways we could emphasize sanitation, improve our product, and most importantly, keep faith to be sure we came back stronger.
