Fairytales by Tabatha is a proud autistic women-owned business owned by Tabatha McMahon. She always loved performing, working with kids, and fairytales. Tabatha originally started her own company at the age of 15 in Hudson Valley, New York. That company was called Ella’s Enchanted Events and did the same exact thing that she does here in Florida. In New York, she created a lot of large events like character fairytale balls, and character dining breakfasts, and dinners. She ran Ella’s Enchanted Events for about six years, then closed during Covid. Tabatha wanted a fresh start and to dabble in new work opportunities. In 2021, she chose to move to Florida and buy her first house. She opened a dog boarding business within her home for the first two years. Then she decided to get back into the character entertainment business since it was something she missed so much, and it was her passion. With a lot of encouragement from friends and the local community, in January 2023, she reopened a new character entertainment business under the name Fairytales by Tabatha LLC. Opening Fairytales by Tabatha has made Tabatha feel like her spark and fire and her soul have been reignited. Making magical memories and unforgettable moments for families is one of the most heartwarming and rewarding jobs there is. Tabatha is so excited to bring endless magic to Orlando and inspire other young adults that they can accomplish any of their dreams.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road, but it’s been wonderful journey. Like any other human, I had to learn what would work and what wouldn’t in this line of business. I was young, and I was very fortunate to have a lot of creative and smart people around me to help guide me as much as they could. But ultimately, I did have to experience successes and failures to learn. It’s always trial and error. Even something as simple as finding what itinerary flows the smoothest and most effectively for your clients during events or parties. Now that I’ve had over 10 years of experience in this industry and business, I tried to be that guide and helpful person that my peers were for me. I take pride and joy in helping other people achieve their dreams.

Orlando, Florida, is saturated in character entertainment businesses, but what sets us apart is many reasons. The first is we truly care about every detail from start to finish. We want our clients to feel relaxed and like they can be immersed in the entire experience since we take care of everything from music equipment to planning out the whole itinerary. Our main goal is making clients’ dreams come true. We also offer the highest luxury costumes and wigs in the area. And we’re consistent with that. Our clients can always expect the highest quality and pristine costumes. We invest equally in each character, even if that means spending thousands of dollars on a character that doesn’t book often. We believe that representation and character integrity are very important. We are reliable, on time, and always dependable for people’s character entertainment needs. Each of our performers are professional and very carefully trained before debuting in these roles. Clients can always expect the same high-quality, showstopping performance every time. We would never hire a random person to fill the roles last minute like some companies have a habit of doing. We don’t take every party that comes into our inquiry box either so that we can focus on making sure the clients that have booked receive the most professional experience from the moment that we first start communicating. We are also the highest-paying company in Orlando when it comes to our performers. Tabatha really wanted to be able to provide a creative, safe performing space that would pay people very well. Our performers work so hard, and they are a reflection of our company, so it’s only fair that they are paid what they deserve.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I have to say, if I’m coming from a small town in upstate New York, I really do love this city and how many business opportunities there are. I am so happy with the amount of connections I’ve made with the community and the amount of talented performers I have been lucky to hire on my team. I would say the only negative is possibly the amount of same businesses in the same area but if you look at it from a positive perspective, that’s just more opportunities to work together and to refer clients to each other. Florida is so huge, especially Orlando. There is so much opportunity for everyone.
