Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Angely Callejas of Kissimmee area

We recently had the chance to connect with Angely Callejas and have shared our conversation below.

Angely, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! Recently, I had a moment that made me smile. I was working on a project, and after putting in my effort, everything came together perfectly. Seeing the results and knowing my work paid off was incredibly rewarding. What made it even more special was having my brother there with me — he’s always been so supportive, and it was a good experience to share that part of my makeup journey with him.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a makeup artist with a passion for both beauty and special effects—from flawless glam looks to realistic, gory creations. My journey began when I was little, playing with my mom’s makeup and discovering the magic it held. Over time, it became more than just a fascination it became a way to express myself.

In 2018, I began my professional training at the Academia Francesa de Belleza in Bogotá, where I first explored SFX. After moving to Florida in 2019, I pushed through the challenges of adapting to a new culture and language while continuing to refine my skills.

In 2022 in roll at VAMP, an experience that truly transformed my career. Since then, I’ve worked in theater, short films, photo shoots, TV commercials, and theme parks—including productions at the Dr. Phillips Center and SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream.

This journey has been a dream come true and it’s only just beginning.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Definitely my mom and my brother. They’ve always believed in me, even during times when I doubted myself. Their support and encouragement helped me see my own strengths and potential long before I fully recognized them.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It definitely would be: stop worrying about others and keep believing in yourself. You are stronger than you think. It’s a long ride, but quit overthinking everything and enjoy what you’re living. You’re going to do amazing things.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, of course. It’s always important to keep something for yourself and maintain your privacy, but I think you need to be yourself no matter where you are or what you show to people. That’s what makes us authentic and confident. I can’t imagine myself acting like someone I’m not.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I would say that it’s a work in progress. I want to keep doing makeup for the rest of my life; it’s truly my passion. However, it’s not something I’m doing every single day right now. I’m working hard to get to the point where I can focus entirely on makeup.
