Juliana Sotomayor shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Juliana, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of building a family. I LOVE being a mom and teaching the little ones about life from a fresh prospective.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a real estate professional here in Orlando, working as both a realtor and property manager. My focus is on helping clients navigate the Central Florida market, whether they’re buying their first home, investing in rental properties, or need someone to manage their investment portfolio.
What sets my approach apart is that I’m not just a real estate agent, I’m an entrepreneur who understands systems and automation. I’ve built processes that ensure my clients never fall through the cracks. Every lead gets followed up with, every tenant issue gets addressed promptly, and every opportunity gets maximized. In fact, I was so frustrated with the gaps in traditional real estate marketing that I ended up creating DoorScale, my own marketing automation platform, to solve these problems not just for myself but for other real estate professionals and local businesses.
At the end of the day, real estate is about relationships and trust. My goal is to be the person my clients call first, whether they’re ready to sell, looking to buy, or need someone they can rely on to take care of their investment properties. I combine old school relationship building with new school technology to deliver results that actually move the needle.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My mom has taught me the most about work. As a single mom, she was a hard worker with multiple jobs at once just to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads. Watching her dedication and work ethic shaped who I am today, but it also taught me the importance of balance.
I don’t just want to be known for the work I do, I want to be known for the impact I made on my family. I am a woman first, a mom, then an entrepreneur. I believe in hard work, but I also believe in the importance of balance. Success means nothing if you’re sacrificing the moments that matter most with the people you love.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I wouldn’t necessarily consider it failing hard, but right after high school I went to college for criminal justice. My goal was to become an investigator. After obtaining my associate’s degree then later my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, I worked in what I thought was my dream job as an investigator. After YEARS of school and THOUSANDS in student loan debt, I worked as an investigator for all of 8 months before I decided this is NOT what I wanted to do.
I was miserable and did not feel like I was fulfilling my life’s purpose. I felt like all that time in school was a waste, like I failed, until I believed in myself enough to start my own business. That’s when I realized my education wasn’t a “waste” but more of a process that I had to go through to find myself and build great relationships. It showed me that I have the grit and the grind to make anything happen that I set my mind to. Sometimes the path you think you’re supposed to take is just teaching you what you need for the path you’re actually meant to be on.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, absolutely. I’m not always polished, I don’t know how to be anyone but myself. I don’t conform into who people think I should be and instead I stay true to myself. My screen name on social media is @JulesTheRealty because I keep it real in real estate. While I understand there’s always a time and place for everything, what you see is what you get.
I think people can sense authenticity, and in real estate that matters more than anything. My clients aren’t hiring some perfect version of me they see in a magazine, they’re hiring me, flaws and all. And honestly, that’s probably why they trust me with one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
Oh, this is deep! All that I am to my core would remain. No matter what my title or possessions are, I stay true to myself. I am who I am and I am building myself to be who I am meant to be.
I am honest, I am loving, caring, and dedicated. I am the biggest cheerleader for those I love. At the end of the day, the businesses, the titles, the things, they can all go away. But the person I am, the way I show up for people, the impact I leave on others, that’s what truly matters. That’s what remains.
