Latoya Rattery shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Latoya, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
My private wins. The discipline, the resilience, the faith I built when nobody was watching. The early mornings when I showed up anyway. Those quiet battles don’t get applause, but they are the reason I can stand here today. Public success is just the evidence, but the real work happened in private.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Latoya Rattery, a certified professional life coach, coach trainer, pastor, and the founder of Bold University, a membership community and network for coaches, counselors, and wellness professionals who are passionate about helping women lead with purpose and prioritize holistic wellness. I am also co-founder of Branding Lab Consulting, co-author, and community leader, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida and a master’s in leadership from Grand Canyon University.
My passion for empowering women grew out of my own experience with burnout, which taught me the importance of caring for the whole person mind, body, and spirit. Through Bold University, I create safe and transformative spaces where women and professionals alike can grow in leadership, mental health, and wellness, supported by a community that understands the unique challenges they face.
Currently, I’m launching programs focused on wellness, mental health, and leadership for women as a holistic whole, equipping members with the tools, faith-centered guidance, and community support needed to lead boldly and live authentically in every area of life.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Before I could see myself clearly, my personal journey with God helped me understand who I truly am. Through every high and low, His guidance revealed my worth and purpose, keeping me grounded and moving forward. Knowing who I am in Him has taught me that I am uniquely made, created with intention, and called to live boldly in my purpose.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
In my early 20s, I hit a breaking point. Burnout forced me to quit my job, and I found myself in so much pain that I eventually had to undergo a medical procedure. Lying there, I realized something had to change. That moment became the turning point where I decided to shift how I lived.
I recognized that my struggle wasn’t just mine, so many people were silently battling the same work-related stress, choosing success over self-care without knowing how to put the pieces of balance together. That realization ignited a passion in me.
It was then that I decided to start a movement, and Bold University was born a network and community to help women prioritize wellness, mental health, and leadership so they can succeed without losing themselves.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building the mission of Bold University, no matter how long it takes. I know it’s bigger than me—it’s about creating a wraparound leadership and lifestyle ecosystem that transforms the way we live and lead as professionals. My vision is to help people prioritize wellness, mental health, and purpose while excelling in their careers, because true success starts from the inside out.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe I’m doing what I was born to do authentically becoming who God created me to be. I realized my calling isn’t just to participate but to build to create spaces where others can thrive. Every challenge has confirmed this purpose, and living it feels like stepping fully into my God-given mission.
