We recently had the chance to connect with Lett Perez and have shared our conversation below.
Lett, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity without a doubt. You can be the most intelligent person and have great energy, but without a sense of integrity, you can jeopardize so much. It’s like having the most brilliant person around you using the smarts and drive to manipulate. That’s a no-go for me. Whenever you walk in integrity, the intelligence and energy merge and are amplified into an amazing, trustworthy way. It’s like when people say, “Do the right thing, even when no one is watching”.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lett Perez, and I’m the heart behind Brows and Beauty by Lett. This is more than just a business—it’s my ministry. It’s how I use the talent God gave me to uplift, empower, and beautify women.
From Permanent Brows to Quinceañeras and Wedding Events, I strive to offer more than just a service—I provide a personalized, peaceful, and enriching experience. I’m deeply committed to delivering the highest level of human-centered customer care. I take the time to truly listen and understand each client’s vision, allowing my work to not only meet—but often exceed—their expectations. That dedication is what has shaped Brows and Beauty by Lett into what it is today: a trusted, five-star beauty experience serving my hometown of Sebring, FL, and the wider Central Florida community.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Growing up as a chubby little girl, especially when compared to the other girls my age, left me with deep-rooted confidence issues. On top of that, I had very curly hair. I vividly remember my mom taking me to the salon every week for a silk press—no curls in sight. I would spend hours there. Even as a young girl, I absorbed so much from those visits. I learned the “salon culture,” and for a long time, I believed that was the standard of beauty.
Years later, when I began developing my own beauty studio, I reflected on that culture. It was familiar, but something didn’t sit right. That’s when I realized: the beauty industry had created a stigma, a narrow idea of what beauty should look like. But my heart was leading me in a different direction—one rooted in self-discovery and healing.
It was time to heal that little girl who was once surrounded by gossip, stereotypes, and unrealistic expectations.
Today, I’ve grown into someone who embraces her true identity and loves herself just as she is. And I bring that same message to every client—not just through my services, but also through my makeup workshops. My beauty studio is more than a place for transformation—it’s a safe space, a peaceful environment where you leave feeling uplifted, joyful, and renewed.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
November 22, 2024, changed my life forever.
That day, I was preparing for my Friendsgiving Makeup Workshop. I spent the afternoon at the studio, decorating and making sure everything was set for the event.
On my way home, I felt an uneasy feeling deep in my spirit—something didn’t sit right. But with so much to do and the usual pre-event nerves, I brushed it off.
Then came the call I’ll never forget: “Your dad has passed away.”
In that moment, my world collapsed. My heart shattered. I was consumed by pain. My mind went blank—I couldn’t think straight.
Hours later, as the shock began to wear off, it hit me: the workshop was already set. Guests were confirmed. Colleagues were scheduled to speak. People were counting on me.
The thought of showing up felt impossible. A part of me wanted to quit. I was so overwhelmed by grief that nothing else seemed to matter.
But then, a voice in my head whispered, “You are capable of this and so much more.”
So, with swollen eyes and a heavy heart, I showed up. I gave it everything I had.
No one knew how broken I felt inside. But I delivered a beautiful workshop—one filled with joy, confidence, and empowerment. I received heartfelt compliments, and I watched women leave inspired and uplifted.
That day, I realized the strength within me. Even in my deepest sorrow, I was able to rise and shine.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Identity.
It’s the essence of who you are. I’m a proud Latina, rooted in a bold and vibrant heritage. When I moved to Florida, I struggled to embrace that part of myself. I spoke with a strong accent and felt like I had to do so much more just to fit in—until I realized that what made me different was actually my superpower. I have something many people don’t: two languages. I embrace mi cultura y raíces—my culture and roots. I lead with a heartfelt personality and the values instilled in me from a young age. And now, I’ve been able to pass that pride and strength on to my children. My identity is clear. No one can diminish it or make me feel less than.
Knowing who you are is one of life’s greatest pursuits—and once you discover it, protect it at all costs.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
What you see is what you get. I’ve always shown up as my authentic self. But if there’s one thing people often get wrong, it’s this: what others say doesn’t always reflect the truth. People are going to talk—no matter what. But let’s be clear: they speak from their own perspective, shaped by their values, experiences, and biases. I don’t want stories made up about me—I want the facts to speak for themselves. The people who truly know me know my character, what I stand for, and what I bring to the table. They’re the ones who will speak truthfully about who I am. One of my life mentors once told me, “Those who truly understand your work ethic and authenticity can advocate for you, even when you’re not in the room. But those who don’t know you will believe whatever they hear.” The legacy I’m building is rooted in hard work, sacrifice, tears, and unwavering trust in God’s plan—for my life, for my family, and for my purpose. I don’t have a team of cheerleaders behind me, but I do have a deep sense of purpose guiding me forward. And when my time comes, I hope I can look back knowing I fulfilled my mission and left behind a legacy that is both beautiful and meaningful.
