Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Marynessa Vega of Kissimmee FL

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Marynessa Vega. Check out our conversation below.

Marynessa, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
“One thing a lot of people struggle with but rarely admit is fear—fear of change, fear of stepping into the unknown, or fear of leaving their comfort zone. Many stay stuck in situations that no longer serve them simply because they’re scared of what comes next. I’ve experienced this firsthand—leaving a smaller shop to start my own business with my fiancée was a huge leap, but I took the risk. Not only did my clients follow me, but the business has grown beyond what I imagined. Sometimes, the fear is bigger than the reality, and moving forward is the only way to truly thrive.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
MVR Braiding Factory represents over 20 years of elite braiding expertise, built on passion, precision, and consistency. Now operating out of Puerto Rico’s Finest Barbershop and Lounge, which I proudly owns alongside my fiancé Emanuel Lozada. MVR Braiding Factory has grown into a respected brand known for excellence. My work has reached celebrity clientele, a testament to the quality and trust behind every style. With expertise that continues to evolve—getting sharper and more refined braid after braid—I remain committed to growth and mastery. Today, I am expanding my impact by offering braiding classes for upcoming entrepreneurs who are ready to learn the craft, elevate their skills, and build their own path to success.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My fiancé, Emanuel Lozada known as Barbergotbarz has been instrumental in elevating the skillset I already possessed by helping transform it into a strong, professional brand. Through owning and operating our shop together, he has taught me the full scope of business ownership—from structure and branding to daily operations and long-term strategy. His guidance has allowed me to grow beyond my craft, refine my expertise, and position my work within a business built for sustainability and continued success.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell her to never give up—to keep braiding, stay consistent, and continue pushing her brand forward. I would remind her to never let other people’s doubt or comments saying it would “never amount to anything” discourage her. What once felt uncertain would grow into something far greater than imagined. The dedication, discipline, and belief in myself would pay off, leading to true freedom, ownership, and the fulfillment that comes with being my own boss and building a future on my own terms.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The long-term objective is to develop a franchise-ready business model that can be successfully replicated across multiple locations while maintaining the same energy, branding, service quality, and customer satisfaction. This includes standardized operations, training systems, brand identity, booth rental structures, and customer service protocols that ensure every location delivers the same experience as the original.
Ultimately, this project is about building more than a barbershop—it’s about creating a scalable lifestyle brand where culture, professionalism, and community meet, giving clients a place they trust and giving skilled barbers and braiders an environment where they can grow and succeed.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
People would say that I came from nothing—and that nothing about my beginning defined my ending. They would say I rose from circumstances that were never easy, never handed to me, and never forgiving. Every obstacle placed in front of me became fuel, not a stopping point. I didn’t wait for opportunities—I built them.
They would remember me as someone who turned struggle into purpose and vision into reality. Someone who achieved fruition in her goals not by luck, but through discipline, sacrifice, and relentless belief in herself when no one else did. I didn’t just succeed—I created paths for others to follow.
They would say I was a leader, an instructor, and a mentor—someone who taught not just skills, but mindset, confidence, and resilience. I poured knowledge into others and expected greatness from them because I saw it first.
More importantly, they would say that despite ambition and success, I never lost my heart. I was a devoted mother who led by example, showing that strength and love can exist in the same breath. A great wife who stood firm, loyal, and supportive while still standing fully in her own power.
In the end, the story told about me wouldn’t just be about what I built—but about who I was. A woman who rose, who gave back, who loved deeply, and who proved that where you start will never be more important than how you finish.
