Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Nile Stephens

Nile Stephens shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Nile , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
The most recent moment that has made me proud is me obtaining my bachelors degree. It is something I’ve worked very hard and diligently towards for years now. It was such a surreal moment!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello Everyone, I am Nile Stephens. It is such an honor to be able to introduce myself to you all and share my story with you as well. Many people know me as Nile like the river, the girl who models but not many know me as just Nile. The Nile beyond, and behind the camera, glitz and glam. Outside of all of this I live a pretty normal life and if you know anything about life it is hectic. Despite it being hectic and sometimes even hard I have always thrived to be the best person I can be and make a name for myself in this world. I want people to remember me not just for what I did but more importantly who I was. I want people to think of my name and then the river not the other way around. I am currently trying to build my brand and put myself out there. I see so much for myself in the industry of modeling I just have to keep striding towards it !

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that served its purpose was relying on my pain to be my fuel, and wearing it as if it were clothes. I believe in my early to even late teenage years it did indeed fuel me and make me make conscious decisions to positively impact and even set up my future but now I do believe that part of my story is being released ; released to make more room for this new chapter. I now rely on God and wisdom to fuel me, as it’s the greatest fuel I’ll ever need. The only thing I wear now is my purpose and it’s a very beautiful one. Every time I encounter people I impact them in someway and the more I release the old versions of me the more I’ll be stepping into my purpose of imprinting love through out my life, whether that’s through my career, random travels or even at the grocery store.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of losing control. It took me now to realize that real control does not exist and that things never go according to plan exactly. Things will be off in someway or another but that usually serves for a greater reason and better story.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
It is, I never felt the need to portray myself as someone else to gain attention or please others. It is so much easier to be yourself than to pretend, and I do believe that eventually the disguise will fade. Truthfully, I would probably be further if I weren’t so vulnerable, real and honest because in a world that claims they love authenticity they go towards the things furthest from it. Although, I’d be further I know I wouldn’t be genuinely happy and it would come to an end quicker.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My heart, my light and most importantly my faith. When you move through the world with a loving heart and light you don’t need the materialisms to either speak for you or satisfy you. Those things are worth so much more and truly what you’ll be remembered by. My unwavering faith got me to certain roles, and certain possession so it is above and beyond those things.
