Life & Work with Julia Goolia and JP Lambiase

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Goolia and JP Lambiase.

Hi Julia and JP, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
HellthyJunkFood in a nutshell, is a comedy cooking satire for the 21st Century. The channel started as a means to document recipes to encourage cooking at home more in place of going out to eat. Due to JP Lambiase’s and Julia Goolia’s comedic nature, it was hard to not throw in some bizarre humor, which helped HellthyJunkFood stand out from the normal formatted cooking show. It’s turned into creating oversized versions of their favorite foods, a test kitchen segment learning food science, recipe challenges where they go head to head, and exciting restaurant discoveries. Join them on their journey recreating your favorite foods, sharing their adventures to new eateries as they explore the world of HellthyJunkFood. The HellthyJunkFood chefs work on a second channel called JP & Julia, where they post-travel, lifestyle, and foodie vlogs. To date, the team posts new videos every week on their Youtube channels and every day on other social media including Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everything hasn’t always been easy. This for sure didn’t happen overnight. We started the Youtube channel for fun when we first met. We both had full-time jobs so we mainly created our videos in the evenings and on days off. We were determined to make videos even though we had no followers and weren’t making any money. After years of creating videos, we finally had a big break and went viral… and that’s when life change for us. Now we have a catalog of over 800 videos on the HellthyJunkFood Youtube channel and over 100 on our second channel, JP & Julia. The challenge now is to keep it going. We are always brainstorming to figure out the next project, producing new content, and editing to prepare to release videos that will hopefully add a little bit of fun to everyone’s day. Here’s an old video describing the struggles along the way… https://youtu.be/KU1yPhmGaYM

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re known best for our comedy cooking and food videos where we share with our audiences our experiences in the kitchen, food challenges, and traveling the world discovering new and interesting foods along the way… mostly all junk food. We pride ourselves on our creative work so much that we enjoy rewatching our old videos just as much as our new videos. We are most proud of our big productions, such as when We OPENED a Restaurant in an ELEVATOR 🚪🍽 and made our own Japanese 🇯🇵 Bamboo NOODLE SLIDE. Our most popular videos are where we compete and make giant foods like in our DIY GIANT Chicken McNugget video. It’s exciting to put big productions together and it’s so enjoyable to share our favorite productions with our friends, family, and audiences alike. It’s also super important for us to link up with the locals and collaborate when it makes sense. For example, we work to create amazing sushi recipes with our good friends from Wave Asian Bistro & Sushi in Mount Dora. We’ve also linked up several times with The Local Butcher & Market in Winter Park when diving deep into interesting meats and butchery. We believe what sets us apart is our comedic nature, our relationship, and the delicious junk foods that we cook up. https://youtu.be/d6FFdP-eR5Y https://youtu.be/sGu3FZqhyC0 https://youtu.be/_vpdBEXcfmM https://youtu.be/vnIyiBSN4IY https://youtu.be/WE4bPWBsmRM

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Due to covid-19, we’ve learned mainly how we act can affect people. Therefore our social responsibility has become the main focus in moving forward with productions. Face masks on, hand sanitizer in use, and washing hands is a must. We all are learning to adapt to this together.
