Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Murphy.
Hi Katherine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved documenting moments, but I got my first DSLR when I was 16 years old. I started by taking photos of my family and landscapes, naturally progressing to taking portraits of friends and high school seniors. After doing portraits for a couple of years and learning a lot along the way, I started venturing into couples and wedding photography in 2019. I’ve been hooked ever since and it’s been an honor to capture so many special days in my clients’ lives!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While I’m blessed to have such a great support system around me, it hasn’t been an easy road. My family and close friends show me so much support and have helped me grow into the business owner I am today. Whether it was a ride from my parents to a shoot before I had my license or a pep talk from my best friend when I was struggling with insecurities about my work, they’ve always been there to keep me going and growing. I couldn’t do what I do without them!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As the owner of Mae Murphy Photography, I specialize in couples and wedding photography. I’m most proud of the experience I give my clients. I’m an open book and happy to help with the wedding planning process. I love being there on the big day to take photos while getting to know the family and making sure everyone is having a good time. It brings me so much joy to be a couple’s go-to-girl throughout such an exciting and sometimes hectic day!
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is making people happy. No matter what I’m doing or where I am, I try to stay positive and leave people happier than I found them. It’s so important that my clients feel confident, safe, and seen in front of my camera. I don’t think it’s possible to capture genuine moments and emotions without a sense of trust, so I make sure to create a comfortable environment at every session.
