Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Camacho.
Hi Lorena, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I, first of all, thank God for giving me the opportunity to tell you about my journey, I am the daughter of Venezuelans, I’m the oldest out of four sisters, I graduated as a lawyer and worked for more than ten years as one, most of my clients were foreign, among them Chinese, European, Arab and Colombian. In the year 2007, my life changed, I met Jaime Navarro, a Venezuelan Engineer and the father of a son named Jaime Ricardo, who is currently 19 years old. After getting married in 2012, our first daughter Lorena Lucia was born, by then, we started companies that did commercial services, distribution of food products, and security systems. Due to political differences in our country, we moved to America in the month of January 2016 and with only two suitcases, we moved to Sanford, Florida taking this as our new home. Money became scarce when we first got here so we looked for job opportunities, it was hard because of the language barrier and little Venezuelan integration in the area.
My first job was as a housekeeper and my husband as a Landkeeper, sometimes to achieve economic improvements, we had more than one job at a time and we would sleep only 3 hours. We studied English, I achieved a CDA certification in Preschool, which gave me the opportunity to be a teacher, my husband was able to revalidate his degree in Electronics Engineer. For the year 2019, after meeting so many valuable and talented Venezuelans in Seminole County, we made the decision to establish our company named Venezolanos in Sanford, our club carries out activities such as Venezuelan Mothers Day Venezuelan Children’s Day celebration. , Financial Seminar, Venezuelan representation day, Hispanic celebrations with the community of All Soul Catholic Church, Talent Expos, Self Help Seminars, Donations, Christmas Toy Delivery and we currently have two teams of Softball enrolled in City tournaments, a nutrition and training group, music and dance classes. 2020 was a year of surprises since my second daughter named Ella Miranda was born We are currently expanding our Club by offering sports, cultural, musical, and financial activities, contributing not only to the individual but too small and medium-sized companies in the area. We are known for maintaining active social media accounts, WhatsApp, emails, etc. We are proud as we have grown as a community, uniting more Venezuelans in the area on a daily basis. We distinguish ourselves by planning, focus, and carrying on. The most important thing for me is the family, from an early age, I learned values that made me the person I am today, “know your story to improve your future.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The language and little integration of the Venezuelan community in the area.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are currently expanding our Club by offering sports, cultural, musical, and financial activities, contributing not only to the individual but too small and medium-sized companies in the area.
What matters most to you?
