Life & Work with Abbie Hofstrand of Davenport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abbie Hofstrand

Hi Abbie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey is a mix of passion, creativity, and care. I moved to Orlando to pursue my career as a pediatric nurse practitioner, working in fetal cardiology and helping families navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives. While that’s been a rewarding and fulfilling career, my love for Disney has always been a big part of who I am.

Living so close to the parks, I found a creative outlet in Disney content creation. It started as a way to share my love for Disney fashion, subtle Disney-inspired outfits, and magical experiences, but it quickly grew into a full-fledged passion project. Over time, I combined my background in healthcare and my love for Disney by showing how I balance my career, my personal life, and creating content that brings joy to others.

It’s been an incredible journey so far, blending my love for supporting others through my career and spreading a little extra magic through my social media platforms.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. There have been challenges, but they’ve also been opportunities for growth. As a pediatric nurse practitioner, my work is deeply rewarding but also emotionally intense, especially in fetal cardiology, where I help families through some of the hardest moments of their lives. Balancing the demands of my career with my Disney content creation hasn’t always been easy. Time management and prioritizing self-care have been constant struggles, especially since I also deal with chronic fatigue from rheumatoid arthritis.

On the content creation side, breaking through in a space as vibrant and competitive as Disney-focused social media has its own hurdles. Learning how to grow my platform, keep up with trends, and consistently create meaningful content while staying true to myself has been a journey of trial and error.

Despite the challenges, both paths have taught me so much about resilience, balance, and following my passions. Every struggle has made the successes even more meaningful, and I’ve learned to find magic in both the big and small victories.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I wear two hats (one with mickey ears) that are equally meaningful to me. By day, I’m a pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in fetal cardiology. I work closely with families to diagnose and manage congenital heart conditions in babies, providing care and guidance during some of their most vulnerable moments. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that I play a small part in giving these families hope and a path forward.

On the creative side, I’m a Disney content creator who shares subtle Disney-inspired fashion, Run Disney adventures, and magical experiences. My platform is all about showing how Disney magic can be a part of everyday life while being authentic and relatable. I also love to create content that supports and uplifts others, making my corner of the internet a positive and inclusive space.

I’m most proud of my ability to balance two passions that seem so different but are both rooted in bringing joy and comfort to others. What sets me apart is how I integrate my career and creativity, showing that you can be a professional in a demanding field while pursuing a passion that brings you and others happiness. Whether it’s helping a family navigate a complex medical journey or inspiring someone with a Disney-inspired outfit, I’m here to make life a little brighter for those around me.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve always seen risk as an opportunity for growth, even when it feels intimidating. For me, taking risks has often meant stepping out of my comfort zone and pursuing paths that weren’t guaranteed to succeed but felt aligned with my passions and purpose.

One of the biggest risks I took was leaving my established life in New York City to move to Orlando. It wasn’t just about starting fresh in a new city, but also about diving deeper into my career as a pediatric nurse practitioner and immersing myself in Disney content creation. Balancing a demanding healthcare career while building a social media platform was a leap of faith, especially when I wasn’t sure how people would respond to my content or if I’d have the energy to sustain it.

Another risk has been sharing my personal journey somewhat openly, whether that’s navigating an autoimmune disorder or showing my more vulnerable, authentic self online. It’s scary to put yourself out there, especially in a digital space where feedback isn’t always kind. But those risks have allowed me to connect with others on a deeper level, inspire them, and create a community that celebrates joy and resilience.

I believe risks are about calculated leaps, not reckless decisions, but intentional choices that align with your values and goals. Even when things don’t go as planned, there’s always something to learn and grow from, which makes every risk worth it in the end.
