Life & Work with Adam Sliger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Sliger.

Hi Adam, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In high school, I played in a rock band with three of my friends. After somewhere around 100 shows and two albums, we decided to call it quits to focus on other things. After the breakup, I dove headfirst into music production, and eventually, I ended up running a recording studio for almost a decade.

In 2019 I started writing my own music again, and that’s when Night Winds came to be. After years of working on other people’s music, I decided to get back into writing my own material and performing again, and it’s been super rewarding.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but that’s ok. The lockdowns really put a damper on the momentum that we were building, so I spent that time working on music for TV shows and even started a music gear website called http://makethatlouder.com to have an outlet when we couldn’t play shows. Now that things are somewhat back to normal, I just played my first show back on April 30th!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think the thing that sets my music apart is the juggling act between being an 80’s influenced synthwave act and a pop act. I try to write songs that hook the listeners with catchy hooks and riffs, but the retroelement is there to make it more fun and unique compared to other pop acts.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has played a big role, but in the music business, luck and preparation are kind of intertwined. You have to put in the time to develop your skills and ideas, but it does take some luck to get in front of people who like what you do!
