Life & Work with Adrian Simpson

Today we’d like to introduce Adrian Simpson (Adrian Cooking & Food Review).

Hi Adrian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Firstly, my name is Adrian I was born in Jamaica and then I moved to the United States in 2013 I’ve been working in food and beverage industry for the last 9 years and I’ve always been business-minded. I use to sell candy and popcorn in my community and he expanded it in high school I used to sell snacks and candy too. In 2016 I decided to open up my restaurant called Wah Gwaan Diner in West Virginia which I had operated for 2 years and then I closed the doors because I didn’t see it growing any bigger long term since it was in a small town but that didn’t stop my business aspirations because after closing my restaurant I decided to chase my dream of a content creator and through this journey, I launched my online store sauce dackta which is a spice and sauce business in which the flavors are inspired by my Caribbean roots of Jamaica. This has been almost like a 360 plan because all of these ventures are aligned in some way because my sauces first birthed in Wah Gwaan Diner but have really developed into what it is through my YouTube journey. I definitely have hopes of opening another restaurant in the future and expanding my online business into so much more. This is brief summary of how I got started and my plans in the near future

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy but I’m a fighter and I always find a way to overcome my obstacles, what I’ve learnt in this business you can’t allow negativity to affect you negatively. You gotta learn to turn around those negatives into something positive. I remember when I started my restaurant, we had a few negative reviews and I was heartbroken because of all the work I put into but I took those constructive criticism and turned it around and those same customers took their negative reviews back. Even with my now online store, it’s not booming every day but everyone who has tried my products keeps raving about and recommending it to others so you know what I do I keep promoting and not stopping until I’m at the top. Doing social media for almost 3 years now and I’ve seen others come after my excel and I’m still fighting for my space but guess what? I’m always gonna stay authentic to myself so I kept my head up and keep pushing because it’s hard work and passion that will get you to where you want to be.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So currently I juggle being a server and also being a content creator, plus running my online business. I stay busy because as I was told when I was growing up if yuh want good yuh nose haffi run which essentially, it’s telling you that if you want to reap the rewards you have to go through the rough patches and work hard because nothing comes easy

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Well, they can support me by shopping my products on www.saucedackta.com and I’m open to collaborations whether is promoting other businesses because I’m all about everyone winning. I’ve promoted and collaborated with companies such as Kinders, melindasfoods, priority chef, Redmond, and more
