Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Nemchik
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a 37-year-old woman who has dedicated my life to education, faith, and serving others. My journey began with a strong desire to make a meaningful impact in healthcare and public service. I earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, followed by a master’s in public health with a specialization in globalized public health. These achievements fueled my passion for creating policies that address healthcare disparities and global health challenges. Today, I am in the final stages of my Ph.D. program in public policy with a focus on national security, a testament to my commitment to driving meaningful change through leadership and knowledge.
Professionally, I currently work as a Field Reimbursement Manager for a pharmaceutical company, where I help navigate the complexities of healthcare access. My career has given me firsthand insight into the challenges faced by patients and healthcare systems, further motivating me to advocate for solutions.
Beyond my professional life, I am a disciple of Christ Jesus, a devoted mother, a church member, and a community leader. My faith guides everything I do, inspiring me to serve others. I am also a musician, finding joy and expression in worship and creativity.
Looking ahead, I will soon begin a new role with the American Eagle Veterans Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources to homeless veterans and those in need. This opportunity aligns with my lifelong mission to uplift communities, demonstrating that with faith, perseverance, and purpose, anything is possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2016, my life was forever changed when I was struck by an 18-wheel Mack truck. The accident left me with severe injuries, including a major head injury, a blood clot, and extensive damage to my legs. I underwent six surgeries on my left leg and one on each knee. I was hospitalized for many months and spent a year in a wheelchair, facing unimaginable physical and emotional challenges.
During this time, I experienced profound suffering, but it was also when I encountered the transformative power of Jesus Christ. He not only saved my life but also my soul. Through His grace, I found strength, healing, and purpose. What could have been the end of my story became a testimony of His love and mercy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Today, my life is fully dedicated to His work. As a disciple of Christ, I seek to be His hands, feet, and mouthpiece, serving others and sharing the message of hope and salvation. The obstacles I faced taught me resilience, deepened my faith, and instilled in me an unshakable commitment to live out His calling. My journey has been one of restoration and purpose, and I now strive to honor Him by uplifting those in need, demonstrating His love through my actions and service.
I am so honored that I have been able to use my life experiences and challenges to serve others and honor Jesus Christ. As a musician, I have had the privilege of creating country music, and I am excited to announce that I will be releasing Christian songs in 2025. This project is deeply personal, as it reflects my faith journey and my desire to share God’s message of hope and redemption through music.
In addition to my music, I specialize in community outreach and collaboration. I will soon begin my role with the American Eagle Veterans Foundation, focusing on homeless outreach to provide critical resources to veterans and community members in need. This work is a calling, and I am committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus for those who are most vulnerable.
I am also honored to continue working closely with community leaders, including local church leaders such as my home church, Faith United Church in DeLand, as well as Lou’s Community Boxing and Fitness, located at 813 Flight Line Boulevard in DeLand, FL. Lou’s plays a vital role in promoting health, wellness, and community support, and I am proud to partner with them to make a positive impact.
Through music, outreach, and community partnerships, I take great pride in dedicating my life’s work to serving others and glorifying God. It is my mission to uplift and support those in need while sharing His message of love and hope.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about DeLand and Orlando is the sense of community and the vibrant opportunities to connect with others. DeLand, with its small-town charm and deep-rooted community spirit, provides a welcoming and supportive environment where people genuinely care for one another. I especially appreciate the local organizations, churches, and businesses—like Faith United Church and Lou’s Community Boxing and Fitness—that work tirelessly to bring people together and make a positive impact. Orlando, on the other hand, offers incredible diversity and opportunities for growth, along with its dynamic cultural and economic environment.
My least favorite part about DeLand and the Orlando areas would have to be the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and poverty. Despite the efforts of community organizations, there are still many individuals and families in need of critical resources and support. This issue motivates me to take action through my work with the American Eagle Veterans Foundation and my partnerships with community leaders. It is my hope that by continuing to serve, we can bridge these gaps and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
