Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Martin.
Hi Andre, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Dr. Andre Martin is a Jacksonville, Florida native and founder of Divine Truth Christian Center, Inc., established in 2010. After spending a decade in the IT industry, he answered the call to ministry and has since led a thriving congregation committed to spreading God’s love and truth throughout the community.
Dr. Martin is also the visionary behind the M.P.O.W.E.R. Community Development Center, which includes initiatives designed to empower families, develop leaders, and strengthen the community. He was ordained on March 4, 2011, under the mentorship of Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin of The Potter’s House International Ministries.
In addition to his pastoral leadership, Dr. Martin serves as a Chaplain for the Casselberry Police Department and contributes to the Seminole County Public School Business Advisory Board. He holds a Doctorate of Theology and has been married to his wife, Nikitra, for over 26 years. Together, they have three sons.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the most difficult challenges I have faced are 1. Almost dying as a young child from being bitten by a poisonous snake. Getting hit by a car in the 6th grade and throughout high school struggling in the classroom. I almost failed in college because I was having a hard time adjusting to be alone and even was said to have a learning. Disability by my professor. But I was able to graduate and get my masters degree. I also went through a lot of obstacles in ministry by getting forced out of our church by landlords because they bought the plaza they we renting from and also having to downsize during the pandemic while ensuring several members passing away from COVID it was mentally and spiritually taxing along with dealing with a child that was doing. Self harm all in all we made it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been in the information technology industry since 2001. My specialty is computer information systems and cloud engineering. I am a volunteer pastor of 16 years. I am most proud of helping change people’s lives…what set me apart is being a person of joy, innovation, consistency and integrity with whoever I deal with.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Innovation, integrity and leadership during successful and difficult times.
