Life & Work with Andrea Betancur of Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Betancur

Hi Andrea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Anyone who knows me knows I have always had a love for all things food, and I can EAT. In February 2022 I started andreaa.eats, a just-for-fun Instagram page where I would post pictures of all the food I’ve had while eating out. I then began to make small, random videos and little by little began to grow a following. Once I had my first viral reel, it motivated me to improve my editing skills and seek out more opportunities to highlight my food experiences throughout Orlando as well as the many cities I’ve gotten to live in (Sacramento, San Jose, Atlanta, Portland) while working as a travel physical therapist. Three years later, andreaa.eats now has 12.4k followers and I’ve had the pleasure of highlighting and working with over 200 businesses, many of them family-owned. I also love to travel and have been to 16 countries, so it’s been incredibly exciting to also start to incorporate some of my travel adventures in my content as well. While I do love getting to eat at so many different places, it’s been especially rewarding to have been able to help out so many small and local businesses as well as connect with the owners and get to know about them and their stories.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As the page started to gain more traction and my schedule got busier with content shoots and editing (which is not as easy as some people may think), it became more difficult to manage my time and found myself just exhausted and sleep-deprived 90% of the time. Between working a full-time job, content creation (which is basically a part-time now), staying active by going to the gym/playing soccer, while still trying to maintain a social life, it can get exhausting and some times I feel like I’m burning out. I’ve also found more difficulties in trying to stay present when my mind is always racing thinking about all the things I need to get done. Although at times it can be a bit overwhelming, I am so incredibly grateful for all the opportunities my page has given me and my goal this year is to incorporate more balance and mindfulness into my life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Andreaa.eats is my Instagram page dedicated to showcasing my food experiences, highlighting local businesses, and sharing my travel experiences! Although this is not my full-time job, I hope for this page to continue to grow and open up more opportunities for me.

Concerning my professional career, I graduated from Florida International University in 2020 with my Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. I decided to pursue travel therapy which allowed me to live in California, Georgia, and Oregon as well as get to visit tons of states and national parks during my road trips to/from Florida. I currently am working remote from Kissimmee, in a more administrative position as a physical therapist, which has allowed for more flexibility and more of what I love to do–travel (and eat while I travel, of course).

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I actually have a HUGE passion for health and fitness, and have been really into two podcasts lately. The first is MindPump (shout out to my cousin Richard for putting me on this), and the second is The Higher Up Podcast. Through these podcasts I’ve learned so much not only about eating healthy and exercising, but on staying motivated to reach your goals whether it be in fitness, personal, professionally, or anything in life.
