Life & Work with Angel Soto of Central Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Soto.

Angel Soto

Hi Angel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Having been raised in an artistic environment, I began my journey into the performing arts at the age of 4. This journey prepared me in the fields of dance, theater, instrumental music, and singing. Raised in Puerto Rico, I was surrounded by traditions and folklore. It was in 2006 when I moved to Florida, where my cultural foundation was challenged. My dream to perform and be on stage never went away and after many failed attempts to fit into the theme park standard, I realized that in this country if there are no opportunities for you, you have to create them. This sparked an idea that would later be called ERA Entertainment. In the quest to find a place to showcase my culture, create a platform that would treat and compensate talents appropriately, and cultivate a team of cultural diversity, ERA Entertainment began its journey of training and showcasing cultural shows in 2015. By 2016, the company had taken a turn and we were involved in animation, and event planning, and our cultural repertoire had expanded from Puerto Rican folklore to Brazilian and Cuban. Our high-quality entertainment made us a desirable company to hire and work for. This led us to produce shows that corporations would buy to entertain their guests at major events. As we entered 2019, ERA Entertainment was in a position to expand its team to include singers to join these shows. The team increased in popularity but also in members, leading to the year with the most performers which got us a partnership with a restaurant for ticketed shows. All the hard work crumbled down when two weeks before the show’s grand opening, the restaurant was forced to close its doors due to COVID-19. Perseverance and patience have brought us back and due to our commitment to quality, ERA Entertainment is again thriving and getting ready for what is to come. ERA Entertainment is now an exclusive company that produces shows for private and corporate events and renowned venues such as Mangos Tropical Cafe and The Grand Bohemian Hotel. We have now expanded as a full entertainment production with musicians, singers, dancers, and special talents such as stilt walkers, fire dancers, aerialists, and more. Our cultural foundation has us now covering folklore from many Latin American countries and the Middle East and we are very excited to see what the future holds for us in the upcoming years and how much more we will expand in Central Florida and other regions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles and obstacles we have had to deal with include:

No Funding
Performer’s Lack of Commitment to Rehearse and Training
Lack of Respect and Support for the Performing Arts in the Country
COVID-19

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My career is in the Real Estate industry. I have been in the Property Management industry for 5 years; However, my passion is in ERA Entertainment. Being an entrepreneur and having the blessing to direct and choreograph the shows is a feeling I do not want to see going away.

How do you define success?
I define success by understanding the final vision, the dream. Every goal achieved gets me closer to that dream. I define success as being able to live in that dream, even if it is for a second!
