Life & Work with Ashley & Erin of Elite Events by A | E

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley & Erin.

Hi Ashley & Erin we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Ashley and I are long-time friends; we have more than two decades of friendship under our belts. Creativity and attention to detail are something that has always come naturally to us.

It must have been after my (Erin) first baby shower that we really sat down and decided to start this business. We certainly wanted to put our time and energy into a project that we felt would be rewarding and enjoyable for us, as partners and as friends.

The journey has certainly been unique and challenging at times, especially since we started the business during a pandemic. Learning how to navigate that space has been enlightening and we continue to carve out the path that best suits us as we continue on this journey.

Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. We are looking forward to every opportunity that 2022 has in store for us and we are eager to help create many special moments for our clientele.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The ride has not been smooth. Our business is based on gatherings and so when the pandemic hit heavily in the US, right after we started our business, we were faced with some harsh realities and difficult times.

Another big challenge is reviving the business now that things and people are opening back up. The community is becoming social again and we have to once again get their attention and prove that we are meant to be taking up space in this industry.

And we definitely are!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Erin – Engineer, current SAHM.

In my professional career, I’m drawn to order and organization. That is generally the way many organizations operate successfully, and as a professional, I, too, adapted those principles. What I love about event planning, and other creative/expressive forms of art is that they allow you to take an idea that may have in many ways seemed out of sorts or chaotic, and create something beautiful and inspiring.

I’ve always naturally been a creative individual. I’ve struggled in the past deciding on which art form I’d like to focus on and allow to flourish; I’m glad Ashley and I chose event planning. Being able to create beautiful scenes and backdrops for our clients is exciting for me and I hope to continue to have these opportunities to inspire and create happiness for others.

Ashley – Technology Consultant.

Growing up as the youngest of 3 girls, I was always very independent. This independence is why I became the woman I am now. I have always been able to visualize things in my head without them physically being there and as a young girl, I just thought that is how everyone saw the world. As a technology consultant, I must see how a system needs to be put together before it is completed. Creativity comes naturally to me. I think in going into event planning, my favorite part is seeing it all come together and the client is blown away.

Building and putting things together is a knack that I have. In my free time, I practice and study trim carpentry. I like to stay active and continuously learn. I will admit that Erin is more of the organized one and I am the one who focuses more on the technology side. We make such a great team, and I wouldn’t have it any other way except maybe that we both could be a little less social media-shy. We hope that this year we will continue to grow our business, build more relationships and partnerships.

What sets us apart – Thick skin and a strong will to succeed. There’s no shortcut to success and no road that comes without harsh realities and strong opinions. We are committed and that determination has brought us this far, and it will see us through to the path of success.

At present, we are extremely proud of ourselves for having started this business. It’s common for most people to have business ideas but creating a plan of action and executing those plans is entirely different. It has been a lot of work but we are soaking up all the knowledge we can and taking it along with us.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Orlando is such a big city. There are so many people living, creating, and entertaining in one fashion or another. It is the perfect area to step out on faith and build a successful business. Hard work and dedication are fundamentals to success in any industry, in the pursuit of every goal.

This may also be contributing to what I like least about Orlando. The city is growing and growing. It’s difficult to reach everyone and hard keeping up with each new area that pops up. We want our business to easily be accessible to as much of our city as possible.

We will continue to work to make that happen as we build our business.
