Life & Work with Belkis Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belkis Garcia.

Hi Belkis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I migrated to the United State in June 1982 at the age of 12, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Bronx, New York. A non-English speaker attended middle school and went on to High School and graduated in June 1989. At age 21 had my first child but I knew that in order for me to be successful education was a must. My father installed that in me that everything can be taken away from you except knowledge and I continue to drive for the best. In that process, I completed an AAS degree from La Guardia Community College but now with 2 daughters from different fathers. Was married to my first-born daughter’s father and divorced him before she turned one year old. I continue to do the best I can for my daughter but driving to get my life together but wasn’t counting on getting in a new relationship that brought me my 2nd daughter. He wanted me to dedicate myself to my girls and it was a huge mistake cause as years pass by 10 to be exact, I had 4 kids in total and I discovered that he had another family and 3 more kids that no one knew about. My life kept going on a roller coaster cause then after I found he had another life so, I got back together with my ex-husband and relocated to Florida, he was the backbone to help me raise my 4 kids and supported me with completing a 4 years degree from Florida Southern College. 10 years went by and we are both working hard and he did the same thing the 2nd husband did but thru all this, I kept growing as I worked as a Home Health Aid, Secretary, Housekeeper, Tax Prepare, Paraprofessional, Teacher and in 2018 I decided to get my Real Estate License. I began a career in real estate creating my own business under the Brokerage of EXP Realty, LLC that open the doors for me to have multiples sources of income. Although life have been rough at times it also have been very rewarding as a mother and as a professional. The satisfaction that no matter what comes at me I just focus on being the best I can be and that there is nothing I cannot do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It was rough like I mention on my story dealing at such a young age with a child, relationship, and trying to get an education was a roller coaster. Since the time I migrated to the United States I had to worked harder in everything since I didn’t understand the language. My teachers use to speak Spanish but book were in English. My choice in man had made things worse but thru all learn that everything that happens to us is because the decision we make and we have the power to change the final outcome. I have done so and keep working every day for a better tomorrow. I never imagine to own my own business and at this time I own it and working every day to make my company Belkis Garcia Realtor, LLC a successful brand.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a License Real Estate Agent (Realtor) working under Brokerage of EXP Realty, LLC and I sell and buy houses. I specialize in making dreams come true. As an immigrant, I know how important and difficult it is to own a home and fulfill the American dream. I’m most proud of being a good example for my 4 kids and as a mother of 3 girls they have learn that life is not easy but there is nothing that you can’t overcome. I taught all 4 of them the value of work ethics and respect for others. What set me apart from others is that I’m building relationship and making the American dreams come true one family at a time no matter how long it takes. I’s not about making a sales but making dreams come true!

What matters most to you? Why?
Family and friendships matters a lot because no matter what life throws at you the support of a family member and friends are priceless. Money buy you stuff fame gets people to think they know you but your family and friends are the hand who’s going to help you get up no matter what. You learn and help from each other’s and nothing is more important than having a true shoulder to lean on.
