Life & Work with Brandon Almodovar of Sanford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Almodovar.

Brandon Almodovar

Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey from college athlete to professional baseball player to professional gamer and finally to baseball coach and trainer has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. After being released twice from independent baseball, I was devastated and turned to gaming as a way to cope. However, my passion for baseball never truly left me and I eventually found my way back to the sport through coaching and training young athletes.

In my time as a professional gamer, I had the opportunity to play with a big brand like Obey Alliance, gaining valuable experience in the competitive gaming world. This experience, along with my background in baseball, has shaped my coaching philosophy and approach to developing young athletes.

I believe in developing talent in a way that is meaningful and impactful, rather than just focusing on winning games. That’s why I have partnered with House of Arms, a baseball facility in Sanford, and Central Florida United, a local elite travel ball team, to help young players reach their full potential and achieve their dreams of playing college baseball or getting drafted.

Through my social media platforms, I aim to inspire and educate others on how to support their children in reaching the next level in baseball or softball. With a growing following of 6k Instagram followers and 1k YouTube subscribers, I hope to continue spreading my message of development over competition to a wider audience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Plenty of struggles in both areas, baseball and gaming I struggled to believe in myself and I lacked confidence that hindered me and I had to dig deep everyday just to get by. If I knew the stuff I know now it would be different.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in coaching and training young athletes in baseball, drawing from my experiences as a college athlete, professional baseball player, professional gamer, and now as a coach. I am known for my unique background and diverse skill set, which allows me to offer a well-rounded approach to player development.

I am most proud of my ability to connect with and inspire young athletes, helping them reach their full potential both on and off the field. My passion for developing talent in a meaningful and impactful way sets me apart from others in the industry. I believe in prioritizing the growth and development of young athletes over winning games, creating a positive and nurturing environment for them to thrive in. My dedication to this philosophy, along with my extensive experience in both sports and gaming, allows me to offer a holistic approach to coaching and training that sets me apart from others in the field.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I see the sports industry, particularly in baseball and gaming, undergoing significant shifts and changes. With the rise of technology and social media, there will likely be an increased emphasis on data analytics and player development in sports. Coaches and trainers will continue to leverage technology to enhance training methods and analyze player performance, leading to more personalized and data-driven coaching approaches.

In the gaming industry, the rise of esports and competitive gaming will continue to grow, creating more opportunities for professional gamers and coaches. As the gaming industry becomes more mainstream, there will likely be an increase in investment and sponsorship opportunities, as well as a greater focus on mental health and well-being for gamers.

Overall, I believe there will be a greater integration of sports and technology, leading to more innovative training methods and coaching techniques. The industry will continue to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape, with a focus on promoting inclusivity, diversity, and the holistic development of young athletes and gamers.
