César, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

There are dates or stages in your life that define you, and this was the beginning of my new story. Since I was young I always had a clear idea of what I wanted to do in life, and that was to one day run my own business. After spending years visualizing and analyzing that idea, I made the decision to leave behind my life, family, and friends in Costa Rica to begin a new journey in America. With only a suitcase and a heart full of dreams, I began this new chapter of my life on October 17, 2017. My name is Cesar Camareno Briceño, and this is my story.
My first destination was New Jersey, where I arrived at a house I didn’t know and a very different environment than what I was used to. However, my mentality and my dreams told me this was just the beginning. I started walking around the neighborhood and there I made my first connections with local people in search of work. After a few hours of walking, I found my first job offer. It was in painting, something I had previously done to help out around my house many years ago, but never professionally. However, I wasn’t closed to the idea of learning new things, as I knew that here I would have to explore my own capabilities as a person and as a professional, since by profession I am a Business Administrator with an emphasis in International Trade.
After a month of working in painting, I felt the need to look for something that would generate more income. Landscaping was my next job, for which I had zero previous experience, but I was eager to learn. But more than anything, I knew that every step I took would bring me closer to my goal, so I accepted. I must say that it wasn’t easy learning to work with that type of machinery, but the cold weather was my biggest challenge at this point. Working outside in such low temperatures coming from a warm climate was my biggest challenge at this point. It was a great seasonal experience since at that time the collection of tree leaves was at its peak, and I not only learned how to collect, but also learned how to plant flowers and other tasks that were part of the job. But one of the most important things I learned was the value of work and how hard it is to earn a living in this country.
Winter arrived, and seasonal work had dried up, so a new challenge arose. I began my new job search, unaware that this time it would require me to move to another state. I had a job offer in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, about two and a half hours away from where I was at the time. I started a quick Google search and was enchanted by its historical overview, where I learned that the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America was signed in Philadelphia in 1776.
I also loved the fact that it was a state where I could find landscapes and places more in line with who I am as a person, and this led me to accept the job offer, in which I had no prior experience, but that didn’t stop me.
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was my new home and my new adventure, so I decided to move with great excitement. Always with the idea and intention of continuing toward my goal of starting my own business, which would provide me with the income to make a living and also be able to help others along the way. If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that success isn’t built alone. I started working a 12-hour night shift, starting at 8 p.m. and ending my workday at 8 a.m. the next day. Saving as much money as I could was my goal in order to start my business. I must emphasize that it was a great experience since I had never worked nights, but that didn’t stop me. After almost 8 months of hard work, I was blessed with my first promotion, which allowed me to earn a better salary, so I could become independent and live on my own. I worked nights for almost a year, which opened my eyes to the knowledge that when many of us go to sleep, there are other people working to make certain products and services available for our consumption. This made me appreciate many things, since working nights means sacrificing many personal qualities, as day turns into night and time flies.
My first venture, my first attempt. After analyzing my skills and experience, I decided to pursue something aligned with what I had studied and in which I had a lot of experience. I started a business buying vehicles at auction, performing minor repairs and then importing them to my home country of Costa Rica to be sold. This became my biggest project, so I decided to quit my job to dedicate myself full-time to my venture. So, I put my energy and knowledge into growing my business. I started buying some tools so I could start repairing vehicles and save some costs, which led me to the point of having my own vehicle repair and maintenance shop. The business showed encouraging potential since sales were constant and growing, but no one expected the great catastrophe that would come in 2020. The year that came to change everything with the COVID19 virus. This was one of the most memorable times worldwide to date, and for me personally, it was a very difficult time. Facing the pandemic in another country far from my family was my first real frustration, as I couldn’t be with them to face this moment as a family.
Thank God everyone in my family was safe and there were no human lives to mourn, however my situation here was very difficult, since the closures and chaos came due to the number of people who died day after day led me to the terrible decision to close my business, since the economy and the business issue took a back seat. When I closed my workshop, new challenges and problems began to arise that I had to face and one of them was the financial loss of almost $29k that I had invested in my project, which left me in a very complicated position since my savings were invested to the point that I could no longer pay my rent and I had to move to the workshop where I performed vehicle repairs, leaving behind many comforts and basic needs, so the change was drastic and difficult for me. Which in my humanity made me fall into a deep depression that led me to hit rock bottom when I had to
leave my workshop and live in an abandoned property for more than three days, where I had nothing to eat or drink and even worse, without anyone who could help me since my entire family was in my country.
God didn’t abandon me. In those moments when I had nothing but my faith and my convictions, I cried out to my Creator for help, unaware that He was already helping me, because incredible things were coming my way that I hadn’t expected. One day I received a call from someone who shared my situation with someone else, and this person contacted me to tell me that he would welcome me into his home and help me move forward. That’s when another part of my story began. A new beginning and a new opportunity lay before me, only this time I had to start from scratch once again. I didn’t know what to do; whether to look for work or return to my country, which didn’t make me happy at all since I hadn’t achieved my goal yet. I took a break and made the decision to stay and fight for what I wanted. I wasted no time and began searching for a new job. What I didn’t know was that this new job would mark a new stage in my life, as it would take me on a completely different path than what I was used to.
Carpet Installation. A very professional but very hard job, as it requires a lot of physical effort and great care to avoid injury, which led me to a great challenge since I had never done anything like it, so I started as an assistant doing the toughest tasks, but at the same time acquiring knowledge. I continued learning about some other flooring installation services, such as laminate or LVP flooring, wood flooring installation, vinyl flooring for kitchens, which filled me with passion for flooring remodeling and other services. This led me to realize that with attitude and a desire to learn, you can acquire knowledge that one cannot even imagine. Our minds can take us to places we never imagined, and that is why one day, while watching videos, I came across resin flooring, something that completely captivated my attention, and there began another stage in my story. So, I entered this world confident that I could learn this great service, which was all the rage throughout Latin America. For years, this has become a modern, high-quality option for renovations in any type of environment, whether for your home or for businesses, considering the versatility and customization that this type of product offers. So, I decided to educate myself further and began researching the materials and installation techniques. I must say, I watched thousands of videos until I got to the point of starting my first practices with resin. My first project was somewhat complicated, but I gave it a try. I bought the materials and began practicing in my own room, where I laid the floor of my closet. This made me realize my skills, as it turned out better than I expected. I continued my own training through videos and some notes I could find on the internet, which led me to find something that completely captivated me. I saw a video where I could observe something unique that I had never seen before. I must clarify that I have always been attracted to unusual things, so seeing a wall that was made of marble
captivated my attention completely and there began another adventure with a product and service that I had never seen before. Venetian Plaster is a wall and ceiling decoration technique that brings a piece of Italy to your home or business. Since this technique comes from Venice, it has been around for years and can be admired in temples, cathedrals, and other iconic historical sites in Italy. From there my adventure began with two new products on the United States market. I continued practicing and acquiring knowledge of both services and products, since I had great faith that this could mark a direction in my new project. So from there I started practicing with some products and I must say that in this case of Venetian Plaster the first experience was not what I expected, since learning to work with such fine and delicate products has its learning curve, so I must say that my first wall did not look so good, but that did not frustrate me or stop me, on the contrary I knew that there was a great business opportunity there, so I persisted watching more videos and continued educating myself more on the subject because I knew that at some point I would achieve it. It took me more than 3 years to be able to understand the correct process to be able to make these types of walls, since at that time there was no course that I could take.
For seven years I had the opportunity to live in Pennsylvania, and it was there where I started my first business, Innovative Flooring & More, where we were dedicated to the renovation of interiors and exteriors, such as painting, demolitions, repairs in general. One day talking with my life partner, she told me about the great opportunity that had been presented to her in her work environment and that it looked very promising for her development as a professional, the only thing is that this new job would require us to have to relocate geographically to a completely different area in Orlando, Florida. With love and understanding I said my unconditional yes to this opportunity that presented itself both for her and for me. Because changes always bring new challenges, but they also bring new opportunities. So I set out to get my business back on track but this time focused on two products and services and that is where Luxurious Innovations was born in Orlando. This is the name of my business, and it was the result and combination of many efforts and hours of constant practice in these two products that are trending today.
It wasn’t easy. During this journey, I must remember that at times I fell, failed, tried again, and failed again, but I never gave up. I always persisted, fighting for every dream and every goal I’ve set for myself in this life. Nothing is easy and nothing comes by chance. And that’s why in my story I must emphasize and thank God for the strength he has given me and for the wonderful people he has placed in my path during this great adventure. I want to thank a loyal friend who opened the doors of his home to me without even knowing me when I needed it most. He offered me support and, above all, believed in me as a person. Thanks to Julian Rodriguez for the opportunity he gave me to continue pursuing this dream, which today is getting closer and closer.
Life may be hard and difficult many times, but at the same time it brings situations and people that help you grow and move forward on this path, I have the strong conviction that all things come from God and one of the most important things that he has given me on this path is a great companion, I found the love of my life when I least expected it, when I was least looking for it, it came to me like a new dawn, like a new opportunity and a new inspiration, I want to thank a person who since he came into my life has believed in me unconditionally and more than anything has supported me in each and every one of the processes that have led me here. I want to give a very special thanks to my life partner Shayna Bram for each and every one of the things she has done for me, for putting up with my most difficult moments when I had no spirit or desire to continue, she was always there supporting me and pushing me to keep walking towards my goal, thank you for your support and above all thank you for the love you have given me throughout this time, I think that when I met you I found a motivation and one more reason to not give up and to continue fighting for my dreams and goals that today we share as projects together. To conclude, I want to emphasize and mention that I continue to strive for more in this life, that my goal is not yet 100% fulfilled, that the journey challenges me to believe and improve every day, because success is not the culmination of a project, it is the process you went through to get there. It is what transforms us and often makes us better people and professionals; it is everything that comes into our lives to challenge us and makes us transform into something better. Success in life can be defined in many ways and depends largely on each person’s goals, values, and dreams. For some, success may be linked to professional achievements, financial stability, or social recognition. For others, it may mean having satisfying personal relationships, living in peace, taking care of their physical and emotional well-being, or contributing to the well-being of others. In essence, success is achieving a state of satisfaction and fulfillment, where you feel you are living in accordance with what is most meaningful to you. It’s not just about accumulating achievements or riches, but about finding balance, happiness, and purpose along the way.
I hope my story will be a great motivation and inspiration for all of us who leave our country with the hope of a better future, a better life, but above all, the satisfaction of living, trying to make the most of every breath we have.
